Donal Murphy
Donal Patrick Murphy (born 23 February 1955 in Dublin, Ireland), is an Irish footballer who played as a winger in the League of Ireland and Football League. After three seasons as an apprentice at Highfield Road the Republic of Ireland national football team youth international moved to Shamrock Rovers in October 1973. He made his League of Ireland debut on 4 November at Richmond Park and scored on his home debut at Milltown the following week. His goal scoring exploits earned him the Player of the Month award in September 1974. In February 1975 Murphy was called up to a Republic of Ireland national football team training session under Johnny Giles. In September 1975 he was part of the Rovers squad that toured Japan. The following month he re signed for Coventry. After seven years in England he came home to sign for Drogheda United in October 1982 on a three-month contract and scored on his debut at Dalymount Park. 1984–85 European Cup Winners' Cup
The 1984–85 season of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, European Cup Winners' Cup was won by Everton F.C., Everton in the final against SK Rapid Wien, Rapid Wien. Everton also won the English Football League that season and would therefore have entered the UEFA Champions League, European Cup the 1985–86 European Cup, following season. However, Everton were unable to do so due to the newly enacted 5-year ban on English clubs participating in European competitions as a consequence of the Heysel stadium disaster in May of the same year. Everton's 1985 trophy win was therefore the last English club success in European competition until Manchester United F.C., Manchester United won this competition again in 1990–91 European Cup Winners' Cup, 1991. The Football Association of Ireland Senior Challenge Cup (FAI Cup), known as the Extra.ie FAI Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a knock-out association football competition contested annually by teams from the Republic of Ireland (as well as Derry City from Northern Ireland). Dalymount Park (Irish: ''Páirc Cnocán Uí Dhálaigh'') is a football stadium in Phibsborough on the Northside of Dublin, Ireland. It is the home of Bohemian F.C., who have played there since the early 20th century. Drogheda United Football Club ( ga, Cumann Peile Dhroichead Átha Aontaithe) is a semi-professional Irish association football club based in Drogheda, County Louth playing in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Johnny Giles
Michael John Giles (born 6 November 1940) is an Irish former association football player and manager best remembered for his time as a midfielder with Leeds United in the 1960s and 1970s. After retiring from management in 1985, Giles served as the senior analyst on RTÉ Sport's coverage of association football from 1986 until 2016. The FAI voted Giles as the greatest Irish player of the last 50 years at the UEFA Jubilee Awards in 2004. After winning an FA Cup winner's medal under Matt Busby at Manchester United, Giles moved to Leeds in 1963 where he played in midfield alongside captain Billy Bremner.
