Donald Wilbur Stewart (born February 8, 1940) is a former American lawyer who was a United States Senator from Alabama from 1978 to 1981, he succeeded Maryon Pittman Allen and was succeeded by Jeremiah Denton. Prior to Stewart's time in the Senate, he served in the Alabama Senate and the Alabama House of Representatives. Early life and education Stewart was born in Munford, Alabama, and received his early education there and in Anniston. He attended the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, both as an undergraduate and in law school. Captain Don Stewart, (born Donal A. Stewart; 1925 – May 30, 2014), was best known as Captain Don, ''The Father of Bonaire''. In the early 1950s, he invented and patented an "adapter for screen cloth" which is basically the frame for a screen door. He was also a story teller, an advanced scuba diver, an environmental activist and protector of the coral reefs that fringe the coastline of Bonaire, a small island in the Caribbean Netherlands where Stewart lived most of his life. Early life Don Stewart was born in the San Francisco Bay area of California. His mother died when he was a young boy, and was raised by his father. Field Marshal Sir Donald Martin Stewart, 1st Baronet, (1 March 182426 March 1900) was a senior Indian Army officer. He fought on the Aka Khel Expedition to the North-West Frontier in 1854, took part in the response to the Indian Rebellion in 1857 and, after serving as commandant of the penal settlement of the Andaman Islands, fought in the Second Anglo-Afghan War as Commander of the Quetta Army. In that role, he advanced through the Bolan Pass to Quetta, and then on to Kandahar in January 1879. In March 1880, he made a difficult march from Kandahar to Kabul, fighting on the way the Battle of Ahmed Khel and Battle of Arzu, and then holding supreme military and civil command in northern Afghanistan. Donald Stewart (born 11 April 1967) is a former Western Samoa international rugby league footballer. Donald Stewart (12 December 1859 – 13 September 1885) was a British tennis player active in the late 19th century. He was a singles finalist at the 1883 Wimbledon Championships, and won the singles title at the 1884 Northern Championships. Between 1882 and 1885 he won 4 career singles titles. Career He played his first tournament at the Sussex Championships in April 1882 on indoor hard courts where he reached the final. Later that spring he reached the final of Sussex County Lawn Tennis Tournament at Brighton, but lost to Robert Braddell. In July 1882 he lost in the first round of Wimbledon to Richard Richardson. Donald Gerard Stewart (25 November 1928 – 14 July 2016) was an Australian judge, barrister, police officer, Royal Commissioner, and founding chairman of the National Crime Authority of Australia.
