Don Allard
Donald J. Allard (April 21, 1936 – May 4, 2002) was an American college and professional football quarterback selected by the Washington Redskins in the first round of the 1959 NFL Draft. He played college football at Boston College, and played professionally in the American Football League for the New York Titans in 1961 and the Boston Patriots in 1962, in the Canadian Football League for the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1959 to 1960 and the Montreal Alouettes from 1961 to 1962, and in the Atlantic Coast Football League with the Boston/New Bedford Sweepers from 1964 to 1965. He was the highest-drafted Boston College Eagles football player in school history until Matt Ryan in 2008. The quarterback (commonly abbreviated "QB"), colloquially known as the "signal caller", is a position in gridiron football. Quarterbacks are members of the offensive platoon and mostly line up directly behind the offensive line. 2008 NFL Draft
The 2008 NFL Draft was the 73rd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 26 and April 27, 2008. For the 29th consecutive year, ESPN televised the draft; the NFL Network also broadcast the event, its third year doing so. Of the 252 selections, 220 were regular selections in rounds one through seven, and 32 were compensatory selections, distributed among rounds three through seven. As of the end of the 2018 season, 27 players have been selected to the Pro Bowl. For the first time since the common draft began, no wide receiver was selected in the first round. Matt Ryan (American Football)
Matthew Thomas Ryan (born May 17, 1985), nicknamed "Matty Ice" & “28-3”, is an American football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Boston College, where he won the Manning Award, Manning and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Awards as a senior, and was selected by the Atlanta Falcons third overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. A member of the Falcons for 14 seasons, Ryan holds several franchise records with the team including passing yards, passing touchdowns, passer rating, and wins. Ryan made an impact in his first season by taking the Falcons to the playoffs, earning him National Football League Rookie of the Year Award, Offensive Rookie of the Year. Atlantic Coast Football League
The Atlantic Coast Football League (ACFL) was a professional american football minor league that operated from 1962 to 1973. Until 1969, many of its franchises had working agreements with NFL and AFL teams to serve as farm clubs.
