Domjur Assembly constituency is a legislative assembly constituency in Howrah district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Kalyan Ghosh is the MLA from the constituency as of 2021. Overview As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 184 Domjur Assembly constituency is composed of the following: Bally Jagachha community development block and Bankra I, Bankra II, Bankra III, Makardah II, Narna, Shalap I and Shalap II gram panchayats of Domjur community development block. Domjur Assembly constituency is part of No. 27 Sreerampur (Lok Sabha constituency). Domjur was earlier (until 2008) part of Howrah (Lok Sabha constituency). 2016 West Bengal State Assembly Election
A Legislative Assembly election was held in 2016 for the 294 seats (out of 295 seats) of the '' Vidhan Sabha'' (Vidhān Sabhā) in the state of West Bengal in India. The All India Trinamool Congress under Mamata Banerjee won 211 seats, and thus was reelected with an enhanced majority. Like in the 2011 election, the poll was held in six phases, with the first phase divided into two days. The first phase was held in Naxalite-Maoist affected Red corridor areas with two polling dates: 4 April and 11 April. The other phases were held on 17, 21, 25, 30 April and 5 May. 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election for 292 of the 294 constituencies in West Bengal was held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021. The incumbent All India Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee won the election by a large margin, despite opinion polls generally predicting a close race against the Bharatiya Janata Party, which became the official opposition with 77 seats. The All India Trinamool Congress (English: All India Grassroots Congress; AITC), colloquially the Trinamool Congress ( TMC) is an Indian political party which is predominantly active in West Bengal. The party is led by Mamata Banerjee, the current Chief Minister of West Bengal, who has led the state since 2011. Rajib Banerjee (b 1974) is an Indian politician who served as the Minister for Forest Affairs in the Government of West Bengal. He was a former Minister in charge of Irrigation & Waterways (2011–2018), and Tribal affairs & backwards classes (2018–2019). He was elected to West Bengal Vidhan Sabha as MLA of Domjur seat in 2011 and 2016 as a member of Trinamool Congress. On January 29, 2021, he resigned his MLA post of Domjur assembly constituency. Padma Nidhi Dhar
Padma Nidhi Dhar (21 July 1935 – 11 July 2020) was a three time MLA from Domjur Vidhan Sabha constituency, West Bengal. He was elected to West Bengal State Assembly in 1991, 1996 and 2001 from Communist Party of India (Marxist). Life and politics He was born on 21 July 1935 in Baisari village of Barishal District of undivided Bengal. His family moved to West Bengal when he was in the ninth grade at Baisari High School and lived in a rented house in Tiffin Bazaar area. He completed his schooling from Bally Jora Ashwathtala School and did his graduation from Surendranath College of Kolkata. Later he pursued master's degrees in Bengali and History as a private student. He worked as a rail hocker. He died on 11 July 2020.
