Domino Man
''Domino Man'' is an arcade game released by Bally Midway in 1983. The player controls Domino Man, a bespectacled, balding man wearing a beat-up turtleneck sweater and sporting a mustache who attempts to set up a number of giant dominoes across the screen. The background music is " Maple Leaf Rag" by Scott Joplin. Gameplay The goal of ''Domino Man'' is to set up a domino on every site marked by a black dot. Meanwhile, pedestrians meander throughout the playfield and may wander into dominos, knocking them over. Domino Man can shove them away from the dominos. A killer bee constantly appears trying to sting Domino Man. There is also a neighborhood bully who is much larger than Domino Man (who can be stunned but not shoved) and an invincible walking clock. ''Tapper'', also known as ''Root Beer Tapper'', is a 1983 arcade game developed by Marvin Glass and Associates and released by Bally Midway. ''Tapper'' puts the player in the shoes of a bartender who must serve eager, thirsty patrons (before their patience expires) while collecting empty mugs and tips. It was distributed in Japan by Sega in 1984. Originally sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, the arcade version features a Budweiser motif. It was intended to be sold to bars, with cabinets sporting a brass rail footrest and drink holders. ''Timber'' is an arcade game manufactured by Bally Midway in 1984. The goal is to amass points by chopping down trees, then logrolling in bonus rounds. Two players can compete simultaneously in the same play area. ''Timber'' was designed by Steve Meyer, who also designed '' Tapper'', and both games have a similar audio/visual style. Gameplay The player assumes the role of a lumberjack in the game and must chop down a given number of trees that sequentially pop up from the ground in a limited amount of time to complete each level. The game is controlled using two joysticks, with one controlling the player's movement and the other corresponding to left or right chops with the player's axe. Scott Joplin
Scott Joplin ( 1868 – April 1, 1917) was an American composer and pianist. Because of the fame achieved for his ragtime compositions, he was dubbed the "King of Ragtime." During his career, he wrote over 40 original ragtime pieces, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. One of his first and most popular pieces, the ''Maple Leaf Rag'', became the genre's first and most influential hit, later being recognized as the archetypal rag. Joplin considered ragtime to be a form of classical music and largely disdained the practice of ragtime such as that in honky tonk.
