Dominique Arnold
Dominique Arnold (born September 14, 1973, in Compton, California) is an American hurdling athlete. He is tied for being the fifth fastest all-time 110 m hurdler, with a time of 12.90 s (+1.1 m/s), which was the American record from 2006 till 2010. Arnold set that mark in Lausanne, where he beat the current world record but lost to Liu Xiang. His performance is still the fastest losing time ever ran for the event. In competition, Arnold finished fourth at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics and took bronze in the 60 m hurdles at the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Athletics. He also took bronze at the 2001 IAAF Grand Prix Final and silver at the 2005 World Athletics Final. Compton is a city in southern Los Angeles County, California, United States, situated south of downtown Los Angeles. Compton is one of the oldest cities in the county and, on May 11, 1888, was the eighth city in Los Angeles County to incorporate. 2006 World Indoor Championships In Athletics
The 11th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) was held in Moscow from March 10 to March 12, 2006 in the Olimpiyski Sport arena. The announcement by the IAAF in November 2003 was a blow to Madrid, which was also in the running to hold the event but Spain had already held the competition twice. This was the first major senior athletics competition to be held in the country since the highly boycotted 1980 Summer Olympics. USA Track & Field (USATF) is the United States national governing body for the sports of track and field, cross country running, road running and racewalking (known as the sport of athletics outside the US). The USATF was known between 1979 and 1992 as ''The Athletics Congress'' (TAC) after its spin off from the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), which governed the sport in the US through most of the 20th century until the Amateur Sports Act of 1978 dissolved its responsibility. 2001 IAAF Grand Prix Final
The 2001 IAAF Grand Prix Final was the seventeenth edition of the season-ending competition for the IAAF Grand Prix track and field circuit, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was held on 9 September at the Olympic Park Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. It was the first and only time that the event was held in the southern hemisphere (international track and field seasons typically revolve around a northern hemisphere schedule). André Bucher (800 metres) and Violeta Szekely (1500 metres) were the overall points winners of the tournament. A total of 19 athletics events were contested, nine for men and ten for women.
