Domenic Priore
Domenic Priore (born January 15th 1960) is an American author, historian and television producer whose focus is on popular music and its attendant youth culture. Biography He has written extensively about The Beach Boys' ''Smile'' album, including two books on the subject, ''Look! Listen! Smile! Vibrate!'' and ''Smile: The Story of Brian Wilson's Lost Masterpiece''. In 2011, he contributed to the liner notes of ''The Smile Sessions'' compilation. He has also published a number of books and articles on the greater Los Angeles area's youth culture during the 1960s, with special focus on the surf craze and the Sunset Strip music scene. Priore worked as the primary writer and creative consultant on the AMC documentaries ''Hollywood Rocks the Movies: The Early Years (1955–1970)'' and ''Hollywood Rocks the Movies: The 1970s''. Sunset Strip
The Sunset Strip is the stretch of Sunset Boulevard that passes through the city of West Hollywood, California. It extends from West Hollywood's eastern border with the city of Los Angeles near Marmont Lane to its western border with Beverly Hills at Phyllis Street. The Sunset Strip is known for its boutiques, restaurants, rock clubs, and nightclubs, as well as its array of huge, colorful billboards. Sir Richard Starkey (born 7 July 1940), known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who achieved international fame as the drummer for the Beatles. Surfing
Surfing is a surface water sport in which an individual, a surfer (or two in tandem surfing), uses a board to ride on the forward section, or face, of a moving wave of water, which usually carries the surfer towards the shore. Waves suitable for surfing are primarily found on ocean shores, but can also be found in standing waves in the open ocean, in lakes, in rivers in the form of a tidal bore, or in wave pools. The Smile Sessions
''The Smile Sessions'' is a compilation album and box set recorded by American rock band the Beach Boys, released on October 31, 2011 by Capitol Records. The set is the follow-up to '' The Pet Sounds Sessions'' (1997), this time focusing on the abandoned recordings from the band's unfinished 1966–1967 album ''Smile''. It features comprehensive session highlights and outtakes, with the first 19 tracks comprising a hypothetical version of the completed ''Smile'' album. The compilation is the first and only package devoted to the 1960s ''Smile'' recordings originally produced by Brian Wilson, arriving after decades of public anticipation and numerous false starts.
