Dolman
The somewhat vaguely defined term dolman (from Turkish ''dolaman'' "robe" ) can refer to various types of clothing, all of which have sleeves and cover the top part of the body, and sometimes more. Originally, the term ''dolaman'' referred to a long and loose garment with narrow sleeves and an opening in the front. Generally worn by Turks, it resembled a cassock in shape. Military dolman The dolman entered Western culture via Hungary starting in the sixteenth and continuing on into the nineteenth centuries where Hungarian hussars developed it into an item of formal military dress uniform. The jacket was cut tight and short, and decorated with passementerie throughout. Under this was worn an embroidered shirt that was cut tightly to the waist and beneath which it the shirt flared out into a skirt that sometimes reached nearly to the knee in the '' csakora''-style. John Dolman
John Dolman, Dowman or Dowlman (died 1526) was an English clergyman and benefactor. John Dolman was the son of William Dowman of Pocklington in the East Riding of Yorkshire. He was educated at Cambridge University, graduating B.Civ.L. in 1488 and D.Civ.L. in 1494. From 1507 until his death he was archdeacon of Suffolk. He established Pocklington Grammar School —now Pocklington School — in 1514, and founded five scholarships and nine sizarships at St John’s College, Cambridge St John's College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge founded by the Tudor matriarch Lady Margaret Beaufort. William "Bill" Dolman (Reverend Doctor) was H.M.Coroner for the Northern District of London from 1993 to 2007. During his career he held over 8000 inquests, including a "suicide by cop", the first such case in English legal history. Thomas Dolman
Sir Thomas Dolman (13 January 1622 – 18 July 1697) was an English landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1661 to 1679. Dolman was the son of Humphrey Dolman of Shaw House, Berkshire and his wife Anne Quarles, daughter of John Quarles, merchant of London. He matriculated at Lincoln College, Oxford on 26 October 1638, aged 16 and was a student of Lincoln's Inn in 1641. He was commissioner for assessment for Berkshire from January 1660 to 1680, commissioner for militia for Berkshire in March 1660, J.P. for Berkshire from July 1660 and Deputy Lieutenant for Berkshire from August 1660. Dolman was knighted on 2 February 1661 and made freeman of Reading before being elected as Member of Parliament for Reading in the Cavalier Parliament of 1661. In 1664 he was a J.P. for Newbury 1664. Nancy Jane Dolman Short (September 26, 1951 – August 21, 2010) was a Canadian comedic actress and singer. She had a recurring role as Annie Selig Tate on the ABC sitcom ''Soap''. Liam Edward Lewis Dolman (born 26 September 1987) is an English footballer who plays for side Tamworth, where he plays as a defender. Playing career Northampton Town Dolman began his career at his hometown club Northampton Town. He went out on loan to Southern League side Aylesbury United in 2005–06, where he made a real impact. Evert "Eef" Gerardus Dolman (22 February 1946 – 12 May 1993) was a Dutch racing cyclist, who won the gold medal in the 100 km team trial at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, alongside Gerben Karstens, Bart Zoet, and Jan Pieterse.
