George Dolenz
George Dolenz (born Jure Dolenc; akas: Giorgio Dolenz and George Dolentz; January 5, 1908 February 8, 1963) was an American film actor born in Trieste (then part of Austria-Hungary, now Italy), in the city's Slovene community. Biography Under the name Giorgio Dolenz ( Slovene: Jure Dolenc), he emigrated to the United States via Cuba, arriving by steamship at the port of Key West, Florida in October 1934. By 1937, Dolenz was in Hollywood and working as a waiter. After appearing in small parts in B movies, he graduated to supporting roles. Following the end of World War II, Dolenz became a leading man under contract to RKO Pictures under Howard Hughes. Janelle Johnson
Janelle Johnson (December 2, 1923 – December 2, 1995) was an American film actress of the 1940s. She married actor George Dolenz (1908–63) and was the mother of Micky Dolenz of the 1960s pop-rock band the Monkees. Her English daughter-in-law was Samantha Juste, co-host of BBC television's ''Top of the Pops'' in its early days. Her granddaughter, Ami Dolenz, also became a film actress. Background and career Johnson was born in Austin, Texas, and was valedictorian of her class at St. Mary's Academy. George Michael Dolenz Jr. (born March 8, 1945) is an American actor, musician, TV producer and businessman. He is best known as the drummer and one of three primary vocalists for the pop-rock band the Monkees (1966–1970, and multiple reunions through 2021), and a co-star of the TV series ''The Monkees'' (1966–1968). Samantha Juste (born Sandra Slater; 31 May 1944 – 5 February 2014) was a British model and television presenter who appeared in the mid-1960s as the "disc girl" on the BBC television programme ''Top of the Pops''. In 1968, she married Micky Dolenz of the Monkees. Their daughter is actress Ami Dolenz.
