Dog River (Georgia)
The Dog River is a U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map , accessed April 15, 2011 river in Georgia. The river rises south of Villa Rica in Carroll County, flows east into Douglas County, then turns southeastward into Dog River Reservoir. The reservoir, completed in 1992, impounded of water before the dam and water level were increased in 2009. The reservoir serves as a water source for Douglas County. After leaving the reservoir, the Dog River flows into the Chattahoochee River. 2009 flooding In September 2009, the Dog River watershed, along with most of northern Georgia, experienced heavy rainfall. The Dog River, overwhelmed by large amounts of runoff from saturated ground in the basin, experienced massive flooding. Chattahoochee River
The Chattahoochee River forms the southern half of the Alabama and Georgia border, as well as a portion of the Florida - Georgia border. Carroll County is a county located in the northwestern part of the State of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, its population was 119,148. Its county seat is the city of Carrollton. The ACF River Basin is the drainage basin, or watershed, of the Apalachicola River, Chattahoochee River, and Flint River, in the Southeastern United States. This area is alternatively known as simply the Apalachicola Basin and is listed by the United States Geological Survey as basin HUC 031300, as well as sub-region HUC 0313. It is located in the South Atlantic-Gulf Water Resource Region, which is listed as HUC 03. The basin is further sub-divided into 14 sub-basins.
