Doe Run Village Historic District
Doe Run Village Historic District is a national historic district located in West Marlborough Township and East Fallowfield Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It encompasses twenty-six contributing buildings and one contributing site in the rural community of Doe Run Village. Buildings cluster in three primary locations. The first cluster includes the Doe Run Garage, old general store, and some residences. The second cluster is associated with a cotton mill that was subsequently replaced with the town hall in 1898. The town hall subsequently contained a dairy. Located nearby are the ruins of a paper mill. The third cluster is associated with a gristmill (1744). Also in the district is the Doe Run School and former Presbyterian Church. West Marlborough Township, Pennsylvania
West Marlborough Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 814 at the 2010 census. East Marlborough and West Marlborough townships were carved out of the larger Marlborough Township in 1729. West Marlborough Township is a second class township, governed by a three-member Board of Supervisors who meet monthly at the township garage in the village of Doe Run. Other elected officials include an auditor, constable, and political party committee members. A Planning Commission is appointed by the supervisors and serve to advise the supervisors as to real estate subdivision, zoning, the township comprehensive plan, and similar matters. East Fallowfield Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7626 at the 2020 census. James Fitzpatrick (outlaw)
James Fitzpatrick (1748 – September 26, 1778), also known as Sandy Flash, was an American highwayman who operated in Chester and Delaware counties west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the American Revolutionary War. A Continental Army deserter, Fitzpatrick defected to the Loyalist side and entered folklore as a swashbuckling Robin Hood figure. He was popularized as a character named Sandy Flash in Bayard Taylor’s novel ''The Story of Kennett'', published in 1866. Early life Fitzpatrick was born in 1748 in the village of Doe Run in West Marlborough Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, the son of a working-class Scots-Irish immigrant.
