Dodging A Million
''Dodging a Million'' is a 1918 American comedy film starring Mabel Normand and Tom Moore (actor), Tom Moore, directed by George Loane Tucker, written by A. M. Kennedy, Edgar Selwyn, and Loane, and photographed by Oliver T. Marsh. The black and white silent film was released by the Goldwyn Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures Corporation. It is not known whether the film currently survives, and it may be a lost film. Plot As described in a film magazine, employed as a mannequin, Arabella Flynn (Normand) decides to have one good time and so with gown and coat belonging to her employer she goes to a fashionable restaurant where she attracts the attention of Jack Forsythe (Moore). During her meal her employer comes into the place so Arabella rushes pell mell into the street. Arriving at her boarding house, she finds that she has fallen heir to a fortune. George Loane Tucker
George Loane Tucker (June 12, 1872 – June 20, 1921) was an American actor, silent film director, screenwriter, producer, and editor. Career Tucker was born George S. Loane in Chicago to George Loane and stage actress Ethel Tucker. After graduating from the University of Chicago, he got a job as a railroad clerk. He was chief clerk for the Maintenance of Way. Tucker was later the youngest man to be promoted to Contracting Freight Agent. After his first wife died while giving birth to the couple's son, Tucker quit his job. On the advice of friends, he began acting in stage productions. By the mid-1910s, films were becoming a more popular draw for audiences which led Tucker to film acting and scenario writing. In 1911, he wrote a script for the short drama film ''Their First Misunderstanding''. The film, which starred Mary Pickford, was a surprise hit. Edgar Selwyn (October 20, 1875 – February 13, 1944) was a prominent figure in American theatre and film in the first half of the 20th century.
