''Doctor Crippen'' or ''Doctor Crippen on Board'' (german: Dr. Crippen an Bord) is a 1942 German crime film directed by Erich Engels and starring Rudolf Fernau, René Deltgen, and . It was shot at the Barrandov Studios, Barrandov and Hostivar Studios in Prague. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Artur Günther and Willi Eplinius. Louis Brody (born Ludwig M'bebe Mpessa; 15 February 1896 – 11 February 1951) was a Cameroonian-born German film actor, musician and showfighter. Brody was born in Douala, in the German colony of Kamerun, now Cameroon. His career began in the 1920s after he moved to Germany and lasted uninterrupted throughout the Nazi regime till his death in 1951. Brody engaged also in political work in favour of Afro-Germans as part of the African Aid Organisation, established by and for Afro-Germans living in Germany. In 1938 he married a woman from Danzig. Olga Engl (30 May 1871 – 21 September 1946) was an Austrian-German stage and motion picture actress who appeared in nearly 200 films. Biography Engl was privately educated in an Ursuline monastery and began her acting career at the Prague Conservatory. In August 1887 she made her stage début as Bertha in the play ''Die Verschwörung des Fiesco zu Genua'' in her home town. In 1888, she moved to the city of Danzig and performed in the theatre from 1889 to 1892 then briefly moved to Berlin. From 1892 to 1895 she performed with the court theatre in Munich and from 1895 to 1897 in Hamburg at the Thalia Theater, and from 1897 in Hanover. Engl made her film debut in the 1911 British silent film ''The Adoptive Child'' then returned to Germany and began appearing in German film productions. Paul Dahlke (actor)
Paul Victor Ernst Dahlke (12 April 1904 – 23 November 1984) was a German stage and film actor. Career Dahlke was born in Gross Streitz (today Strzezenice, Poland) near Köslin in Farther Pomerania. He visited school in Köslin, Stargard and passed his Abitur in Dortmund in 1922. Dahlke started to study at the Clausthal University of Technology and the Technical University of Berlin but also attended some lectures in German philology and dramatics. In 1927, Dahlke was a scholar of Max Reinhardt's drama school and appeared at different stages in Berlin and Munich in 1929. He became a member of the Deutsches Theater ensemble in 1934 until its closedown in 1944 and was awarded a ''Staatsschauspieler'' in 1937. Throughout the 1930s he worked with popular actors like Emil Jannings, Zarah Leander, Lil Dagover or Lída Baarová.
