Doctor, Doctor (Five TV Series)
Doctor, Doctor is a live talk show broadcast on British television on Five starting in 2005, and hosted by co- presenters Mark Porter (who is also a general practitioner) and Raj Persaud (who is also a psychiatrist). It was produced by Princess Productions. Overview The television program comprises several educational sections to present medical and health information in slightly different formats to match different supporting resources. It includes a presentation on a common illness or conditions with audiovisual aids, an interview with a guest celebrity (or celebrities) who talk about an illness that they have suffered from (or had personal experience of), discussion between the presenters and a guest medical (or paramedical) expert to give added insight to a selected medical topic, and a live phone-in when the television doctors answer viewers telephone questions and a few email questions. Channel 5 (UK)
Channel 5 is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel launched in 1997. It is the fifth national terrestrial channel in the United Kingdom and is owned by Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American media conglomerate Paramount Global, which is grouped under Paramount Networks UK & Australia division. During ownership by the RTL Group, it was branded as Five between 16 September 2002 and 13 February 2011. Richard Desmond purchased the channel from RTL on 23 July 2010, announcing plans to invest more money in programming and return to the name Channel 5 with immediate effect, and it was relaunched on 14 February 2011. On 1 May 2014 the channel was acquired by Viacom (now Paramount Global) for £450 million (US$759 million). Mark Porter (general Practitioner)
Mark Christopher Milson Porter, MBE (born 12 November 1962 in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England) is a GP and medical correspondent for ''The Times''. He also presents on Radio 4 ''Case Notes'' and '' Inside Health''. He joined ''The One Show'' on BBC One in 2011. Porter is in general practice in Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire and he lives in the Cotswolds with his wife and two daughters (born April 1989 and July 1990). He married Rosalind in July 1987 in Axbridge in Somerset. He is the cousin of Jeremy Clarkson Education He grew up in Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, and went to the independent schools Monmouth and Wycliffe College. He studied at University College, London and Westminster Hospital Medical School (now Imperial College School of Medicine) and graduated in 1986. Raj Persaud
Rajendra 'Raj' Persaud FRCPsych (born 13 May 1963) is an English consultant psychiatrist, broadcaster and author of books about psychiatry. He is known for raising public awareness of psychiatric and mental health issues in the general media, has published five books and received numerous awards. In October 2008, Persaud resigned from his position as consultant psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, following a three-month suspension by the General Medical Council for dishonesty in plagiarising other sources in his book ''From the Edge of the Couch''. Early life and academic career Persaud is the son of Trinidad-born author Lakshmi Persaud and Professor Bishnodat Persaud. ''The Wright Stuff'' is a British television chat show which was hosted by former tabloid journalist Matthew Wright from 2000 until 2018. It aired on Channel 5 on weekday mornings from 9:15 to 11:15am.
