Doc Alliance
The Doc Alliance is a creative partnership of seven European documentary film festivals, including: CPH:DOX in Copenhagen; Doclisboa; Docs Against Gravity FF; DOK Leipzig; Marseille Festival of Documentary Film; Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival; and Visions du Réel Nyon. The organisation is based in Prague and was founded in 2008, with the aim of promoting the documentary genre. It is financially supported by the European Union's Creative Europe programme, Czech Filmfund and the Czech Ministry of Culture. Its slogan is "the New Deal for Feature Documentaries". Distribution platform The main project of the Doc Alliance is DAFilms.com, an online distribution platform for documentary and experimental films focused on European cinema, which hosts around 1700 films for streaming or download. Instant Dreams
''Instant Dreams'' is a 2017 documentary directed by Dutch director Willem Baptist. It premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) 18 November 2017 where it screened at Tuschinski Amsterdam in the Dutch Documentary Competition and First Appearance Competition. On 14 December 2017 the film was theatrically released in the Netherlands and Belgium. Slamdance Film Festival hosted the American festival premiere on 21 January 2018 in Park City, Utah. Doclisboa
Doclisboa is a documentary film festival in Lisbon, Portugal Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic ( pt, República Portuguesa, links=yes ), is a country whose mainland is located on the Iberian Peninsula of Southwestern Europe, and whose territory also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of ... which held its first edition in 2002. In 2020, Doclisboa was organized into six moments of programme across six months, in order to deal with the pandemic restrictions while presenting its physical screenings in Lisbon's main venues. Abbas Fahdel
Abbas Fadhel (Arabic عباس فاضل) is an Iraqi-French film director, screenwriter and film critic, born in Babylon, Iraq. Based in France since the age of 18 years, he studied cinema at the Sorbonne University until Ph.D. In January 2002, he returned to Iraq with a French passport and filmed a documentary film, ''Back to Babylon (film)'', in which he asked himself: "''What have my childhood friends become? Zaynê Akyol (born in 1987 in Turkey) is a Canadian filmmaker, producer and photographer. She predominantly focuses on documentary film and is known for her feature-length documentary film ''Gulîstan, Land of Roses '' (2016), which was supported by the National Film Board (NFB) and MitosFilm in Germany. ''Gulîstan, Land of Roses'' (French title: ''Gulîstan, terre de roses'') is a 2016 feature-length documentary film about women guerillas in a Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Free Women's Units, Free Women's Unit, in combat against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, directed by the Kurdish Montreal filmmaker Zaynê Akyol.
