Dobbin, Texas
Dobbin is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 170 in 2000, although some estimates place that figure at close to 300. Dobbin is part of the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Dobbin is located at (30.3654842, -95.7760598 ). It is situated at the junction of State Highway 105 and FM 1486, approximately 12 miles north of Magnolia. History In 1878, the Central and Montgomery Railway built a line from Montgomery to Navasota. Two years later, a post office was established in the community under the name Bobbin. It became a shipping point for cotton and lumber in the mid-1880s and had a population of 250 by the 1890s. That number had declined to 168 by 1903. Mexia ( ) is a city in Limestone County, Texas, Limestone County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,893 at the 2020 census. Trinity And Brazos Valley Railway
The Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway of Texas came into existence on October 7, 1902, originally chartered to build a railroad from Johnson County to the Beaumont area near the Gulf coast. It took its name from the Trinity and Brazos rivers. It was commonly known as the “Boll Weevil," though it referred to itself as the "Valley Road." The first line opened between Hillsboro and Mexia in October 1903. It was extended north to Cleburne in January 1904, making a total of 78 miles of track between Cleburne and Mexia. Financial problems in the system led to its purchase by Colorado and Southern Railway (C&S) on August 1, 1905. Benjamin F. Navasota is a city in Grimes County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,643 at the 2020 census. In 2005, the Texas Legislature designated Navasota as the "Blues Capital of Texas" in honor of the late Mance Lipscomb, a Navasota native and blues musician. The route was originally proposed in 1925 and took its current routing in 1984.
