"Do You See" is a song by American hip hop artist Warren G. It was released in November 1994 as the third and final single from his debut album, '' Regulate...G Funk Era''. While not as successful as his previous two singles, "Do You See" nevertheless found some success on the Billboard charts, making it to 42 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, just missing the #40 spot which would have given three consecutive top 40 singles. The song found more success in the UK, making it to 29 on the country's singles chart. The song uses the samples from "Juicy Fruit" by Mtume for the main beat and "Mama Used to Say" by Junior for the background tune. G-funk Songs
G-funk, short for gangsta funk, is a sub-genre of gangsta rap that emerged from the West Coast scene in the late 1980s. The genre is heavily influenced by 1970s psychedelic funk (P-funk) sound of artists such as Parliament-Funkadelic. Characteristics G-funk (which uses funk with an artificially altered tempo) incorporates multi-layered and melodic synthesizers, slow hypnotic grooves, a deep bass, heavy use of the snare drum, background female vocals, the extensive sampling of P-Funk tunes, and a high-pitched portamento saw wave synthesizer lead. It is typically set at a tempo of anywhere between 80 to 100 BPM. The lyrical content depended on the artist and could consist of sex, drug use (especially marijuana), love for a city/neighborhood, love for friends and relaxing words. Norman Washington "Junior" Giscombe (born 6 June 1957) is an English singer-songwriter often known as Junior who was one of the first British R&B artists to be successful in the United States. He is best known for his 1982 hit single, "Mama Used to Say". Career Giscombe was born in Wandsworth, London, England, and was a backing vocalist with Linx between 1980 and 1982. Mtume (pronounced ''em-tu-may'') was an American funk and soul group that rose to prominence during the early 1980s and had several R&B hits during its career. Its founder, former percussionist James Mtume, previously played and toured with Miles Davis in the early 1970s. Other members of the group included Reggie Lucas, Philip Field, and vocalist Tawatha Agee.
