Dmitry Petrovich Gerasimenko (russian: Дмитрий Петрович Герасименко; born 29 September 1978) is a Russian businessman, ex-owner of steel company Krasny Oktyabr Closed Joint-Stock Company and of basketball clubs BC Krasny Oktyabr and Pallacanestro Cantù. Biography Of Ukrainian origin, Gerasimenko became a multimillionaire thanks to steel (actually he owns Krasny Oktyabr Closed Joint-Stock Company, the second largest steelmill in Russia) and gas. In 2012 he founded the club of the same name of the factory, who got a wild card for the VTB United League. BC Krasny Oktyabr was a Russian professional basketball club that is based in Volgograd. In English, the club's name translates to "'BC Red October'". The club played in the VTB United League until 2016, when the team was forced to leave the league because its home arena did not meet requirements. VTB United League (russian: Единая Лига ВТБ) is an international professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league that was founded in 2008. It is made up of mostly Russian clubs, along with one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan.
