Djuki Mala
Djuki Mala, previously known as the Chooky Dancers, are a dance troupe from Elcho Island in the Northern Territory. They first came to attention through a YouTube video of them performing to Zorba the Greek while in ceremonial dress. Djuki Mala first came to attention in 2007 after Margaret Nyungunyungu recorded a video of the group performing in Darwin. One of the dancers was her son Lionel Dulmanawy Garawirrtja who came up with their routine to honour his sister's carer, a Greek lady named Liliane. Elcho Island
Elcho Island, known to its traditional owners as Galiwin'ku (Galiwinku) is an island off the coast of Arnhem Land, in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is located at the southern end of the Wessel Islands group located in the East Arnhem Region. Galiwin'ku is also the name of the settlement where the island's largest community lives. Elcho Island formed part of the traditional lands of the Yan-nhaŋu, according to Norman Tindale. According to J. C. Sirtaki
Sirtaki or syrtaki ( el, συρτάκι) is a dance of Greek origin, choreographed for the 1964 film ''Zorba the Greek''. It is a recent Greek folkdance, and a mixture of "syrtos" and the slow and fast rhythms of the hasapiko dance. The dance and the accompanying music by Mikis Theodorakis are also called Zorba's dance, the Zorba or "the dance of Zorba". The dance has become popular in Greece and one that is identified with the Greeks. The name ''sirtaki'' comes from the Greek word syrtos – from σύρω (τον χορό), which means "drag (the dance)" or "lead (the dance)" – a common name for a group of traditional Greek dances of so-called "dragging" style, as opposed to pidikhtos (πηδηχτός), a hopping or leaping style. Baker Boy
Danzal James Baker (born 10 October 1996), known professionally as Baker Boy, is a Yolngu rapper, dancer, artist, and actor. Baker Boy is known for performing original hip-hop songs incorporating both English and Yolŋu Matha and is one of the most prominent Aboriginal Australian rappers. He was made Young Australian of the Year in 2019, and his song "Cool as Hell" was nominated in several categories in the 2019 ARIA Awards. In 2018, he won two awards at the National Indigenous Music Awards, and was named Male Artist of the Year in the National Dreamtime Awards. His debut album, ''Gela'', was released on 15 October 2021. Baykali Ganambarr
Baykali Ganambarr (born 30 August 1994) is an Yolngu actor and dancer. He received the 2018 Marcello Mastroianni Award for his role in ''The Nightingale'' and was nominated for the 2019 AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the same role. He was nominated for the 2021 AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in '' The Furnace''. After posting Youtube videos of himself dancing he joined Djuki Mala. While still with the group he was cast in '' The Nightingale'' which was his first acting role. In the film, which was released in August 2019, he played an Indigenous Tasmanian tracker named Mangana/Billy. Ganambarr is from the Yolngu people and speaks Yolngu Matha.
