Djerbahood
Djerbahood was a street art event in which artists from all over the world gathered in the village of Erriadh on the Tunisian island Djerba to create 250 mural paintings. The project was established by the ''Itinerrance de Paris'' gallery in June 2014. The project The name of the project, ''Djerbahood'', was imposed to the organizers by the giant letters THE HOOD installed by Rodolphe Cintorino at the entrance of the village, also known as ''El Hara Sghira'' or "the small neighborhood" in Arabic. In order to achieve the 250 individual and collective artistic works, the artists used over 4500 painting sprays during the gathering. According to Mehdi Ben Cheikh, founder of the project and director of Itinerrance de Paris gallery, Djerbahood represents "a unique artistic adventure in the world of urban arts, and an effervescence movement in a developing country". ROA (artist)
ROA (born c. 1976) is a graffiti and street artist from Ghent, Belgium. He has created works on the streets of cities across Europe, the United States, Australia, Asia, New Zealand and Africa. ROA generally paints wild or urban animals and birds that are native to the area being painted. ROA usually uses a minimal color palette, such as black and white, but also creates works using vibrant colours depicting the flesh or internal systems within the animals and birds. A monograph, ''ROA - CODEX'' published in 2019 by Lannoo with text contributions by Lucy Lippard, Robert Williams and others, looks at Roa's work on four continents. Inkman
Mohamed Kilani Tbib known as Inkman, born in 1990, Tunisia. A Calligraffiti artist and graphic designer graduated from the High school of sciences and technologies of design in Denden-Tunis. Very young, he poses poems on paper and expresses his respect for humanity and its attachment to the spirit of tolerance. Typography and calligraphy are areas that he is passionate about, he explores the possibilities for creating and composing works visually, incorporating messages and poems. We find in Inkman's works as much the expression of his personal feelings, that a calligraphy work, a composition base of geometric shapes, often bold and intervene on many supports. The Latin characters and poems of the artist mix his roots Arab, his attachment to calligraphic art, as his modern vision of the world and the political social issues at play. Add Fuel
Add Fuel is Portuguese visual artist and illustrator Diogo Machado (born 1980). With a degree in Graphic Design from Lisbon's IADE – Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing, he spent a few years working in design studios in Portugal, followed by an eight-month stint in Munich, Germany. Since 2007, he has been focusing exclusively on his artistic work. Yazan Halwani
Yazan Halwani () is a Lebanese artist and activist from Beirut. Yazan is best known for his public art displays, including graffiti, murals, and sculptures. His murals can be found on buildings across Beirut, and often depict portraits of important Lebanese and Middle Eastern figures. Halwani, a graduate of American University of Beirut and Harvard Business School, started painting to protest against Lebanon's traditionally- sectarian politics and the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990). Caledonia Curry (born 1977), whose work appears under the name Swoon, is a contemporary artist who works with printmaking, sculpture, and stop-motion animation to create immersive installations, community-based projects and public artworks. Street art has evolved from the early forms of defiant graffiti into a more commercial form of art, as one of the main differences now lies with the messaging. Street art is often meant to provoke thought rather than rejection among the general audience through making its purpose more evident than that of graffiti. Logan Hicks (1971) is an American contemporary artist born in 1971 and graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
