''Djan Djan'' is a collaborative studio album, credited to Malian musician Mamadou Diabaté, and Australian musicians Bobby Singh and Jeff Lang. ''Djan Djan'' was released in Australia in March 2010. Bobby Singh (musician)
Bobby Singh, is an Australian tabla player. He was one of the musician responsible for the album ''Djan Djan'' which won the 2010 ARIA Award for Best World Music Album. Singh is also a member of Rasa Duende. ''Djan Djan'' is an album by Mamadou Diabate, Bobby Singh & Jeff Lang. Diabate is a kora player and Lang is a guitarist. The three met during Diabate's 2008 tour of Australia and recorded the album in a single day in March of that year. Singh was the subject of the documentary ''Viva, I Belong Everywhere'' that was broadcast nationally on SBS TV in May 2005. Jeff Lang
Jeff Lang (born 9 November 1969) is an Australian guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and music producer. Lang plays various types of guitar, both slide and standard, as well as banjo, mandolin, cümbüş and drums. He is a three-time ARIA Award winner, for his albums '' Rolling Through This World'' (2002), ''Djan Djan'' (2010) and '' Carried in Mind'' (2012). Music Of Mali
The music of Mali is, like that of most African nations, ethnically diverse, but one influence predominates: that of the ancient Mali Empire of the Mandinka (from c. 1230 to c. 1600). Mande people (Bambara, Mandinka, Soninke) make up around 50% of Mali's population; other ethnic groups include the Fula (17%), Gur-speakers 12%, Songhai people (6%), Tuareg and Moors (10%). Salif Keita, a noble-born Malian who became a singer, brought Mande-based Afro-pop to the world, adopting traditional garb and styles. Mamadou Diabaté (born 1975) is a Malian musician known for his work with the kora. He began playing quite early in his life, became known as a musician in the area of Mali in which he lived, and has since moved to the United States, recording several albums.
