District Township is a township in eastern Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,381 at the 2020 census. District Township was founded in 1759. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all of it land. It is drained by the Schuylkill River via the Manatawny Creek and the Perkiomen Creek via the West Branch Perkiomen Creek, which starts in the township. District Township is located in the South Mountains, and its elevations range from over 600 feet to over 1,100 feet. Its villages are Fredericksville and Landis Store. Judith Schwank (born 1951) is an American politician. A Democrat, she was elected to the Pennsylvania Senate from the 11th district in a special election on March 15, 2011 to succeed the late Michael O'Pake. The district includes the city of Reading and most of eastern Berks County. Education Schwank attended the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a B.S. and M.Ed. in agricultural education. She continued her studies at Harvard University, where she completed the Executive Leadership Program through the Institute for Conservation Leadership and the Institute for the Management of Life-Long Education.
