Deputy Commissioner (popularly abbreviated to "DC") or District Magistrate (জেলা প্রশাসক ও জেলা ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট) is the chief administrative and revenue officer of a district or an administrative sub-unit of a division. According to the Code of Criminal Procedure of Bangladesh, the Government shall appoint as many persons as it thinks fit to be Executive Magistrates and shall appoint one of them to be the District Magistrate. The term District Magistrate is used in the Criminal procedure code to denote the principal executive magistrate of the district. However, after 1960, the Deputy Commissioner term came to prominence throughout the country. Divisional Commissioner Of Bangladesh
The Divisional Commissioner is the chief bureaucratic and revenue officer of a division in Bangladesh. The "DC" supervises the revenue, development and administration work of all the districts and Deputy Commissioners under the jurisdiction of his division. The Divisional Commissioner office acts as the supervisory head of all divisional government offices situated in the division and oversee the work of Deputy Commissioners who oversee a respective district. A divisional commissioner is given the responsibility of supervising the revenue and development administration of a division. Bangladesh Civil Service ( bn, বাংলাদেশ সিভিল সার্ভিস ), more popularly known by its acronym BCS, is the civil service of Bangladesh. Civil service in the Indian subcontinent originated from the Imperial Civil Service which was the elite higher civil service of the British Empire in India during British rule in the period between 1858 and 1947. After the partition of 1947, East Bengal became a province of Pakistan, so it was Central Superior Services of Pakistan which later after the independence of Bangladesh in 1971 became known as Bangladesh Civil Service. Bangladesh Administrative Service
The Bangladesh Administrative Service (BAS) is the premier civil service cadre of the Bangladesh Civil Service, and which formulates and executes the policies of the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh of which it is an inseparable part. BAS officers hold all senior and middle-ranking administrative posts, such as the permanent heads (non-political) of government ministries, as well as divisions and departments within ministries, in the central secretariat headquartered in Dhaka. Additionally, in the field administration (outside central government ministries), the senior administrative posts in the eight Divisions of Bangladesh, Divisions and their sub-units are also held by officers of the BAS.
