Distort (album)
''Distort'' is a remix album by Collide, released on January 13, 1998 by Re-Constriction Records. The album was remastered and re-released with a few additional tracks for the 2006 release. Reception Aiding & Abetting called the music on ''Distort'' "hit-and-miss" and that "the remixes here aren't uniformly as adventurous or ambitious as the band itself, but many do well." AllMusic awarded the album three out of five stars and said " Collide continue to expand their basic industrial sound on Collide, which incorporates techno and goth elements as well as an ethereal sheen reminiscent of the vintage 4AD label sound." Sonic Boom called the collection "one of the best remix albums released in recent memory for not only the depth and extreme diversity of the remixes but for the track selection as well making this record a definite must have." ''Lollipop Magazine'' criticized the album for being a poor introduction to the band's art and unnecessary. Ink 19 called the album "original ...

Collide (band)
Collide is an American industrial music duo formed in Los Angeles in 1992, that has incorporated elements of trip hop, synthpop and music from the Middle East into their sound. The name comes from the 'collision' of musical styles, primarily the ethereal vocals provided by kaRIN and the electronic music provided by Statik. Collide's debut album, '' Beneath the Skin'', was released in 1996, followed by a remix album, ''Distort'', in 1998 containing remixes by artists such as Kneel Cohn of the bands Spirits In Sin and The Dead Stars On Hollywood. Dissatisfied with the music industry, Collide started their own record label, Noiseplus Music, and in 2000, they released their second studio album, ''Chasing the Ghost''. It was pressed in limited quantity cassette tape and all track versions are different from those on later releases. Songs on side two of the album remain unreleased elsewhere. Three years later, they released their third studio album, ''Some Kind of Strange''. The fo ...

Devo
Devo (, originally ) is an American rock band from Akron, Ohio, formed in 1973. Their classic line-up consisted of two sets of brothers, the Mothersbaughs (Mark and Bob) and the Casales (Gerald and Bob), along with Alan Myers. The band had a No. 14 ''Billboard'' chart hit in 1980 with the single " Whip It", the song that gave the band mainstream popularity. Devo's music and visual presentation (including stage shows and costumes) mingle kitsch science fiction themes, deadpan surrealist humor and mordantly satirical social commentary. The band's namesake, the tongue-in-cheek social theory of "de-evolution", was an integral concept in their early work, which was marked by experimental and dissonant art punk that merged rock music with electronics. Their output in the 1980s embraced synth-pop and a more mainstream, less conceptual style, though the band's satirical and quirky humor remained intact. Their music has proven influential on subsequent movements, particularly on new ...
