Directorate General Of Coastal Safety
The Directorate General of Coastal Safety (DGCS, tr, Kıyı Emniyeti Genel Müdürlüğü, KEGM) has been established by the Politics of Turkey, Turkish Republic Council Of Ministers’ decision on 12 May 1997 as a General Directorate and State owned Organization. The mission of the foundation is to assist and improve the safety of navigation in Turkey, Turkish Waters. The organization’s core competences are: *Search and rescue *Salvage and towage *Turkish Straits Vessel Traffic Services (TSVTS) *Aids to navigation (lighthouses, buoys, differential GPS, Radio direction finder, etc.) *Marine communication *Marine oil spill response during salvage operations or in case of emergency. Efkan Ala
Efkan Ala (born 21 February 1965) is a Turkish politician and former civil servant who served as the Minister of the Interior from November 2015 to August 2016;. He previously held the same post from 2013 to June 2015 despite not being a member of parliament at the time. He served as Governor of Batman from 2003 to 2004, as Governor of Diyarbakır from 2004 to 2007, and as Undersecretary to the Prime Minister from 2007 to 2013. Early life Ala was born in the township of Oltu in Erzurum Province in 1965. He studied Political Science at Istanbul University, graduating in 1987. He went to Torquay language school in England in 1989-1990. Career Civil service In 1988, he began his civil service career as a district governor trainee.
