Torolf Elster
Torolf Elster (27 May 1911 – 4 November 2006) was a Norwegian newspaper and radio journalist, magazine editor, novelist, crime fiction writer and writer of short stories. He was Director-General of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) from 1972 to 1981. Background Elster was born in Kristiania. Thor Gjermund Eriksen (born 2 October 1966) is a Norwegian journalist and editor who has been Director-General of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation from 2013 to 2022. Hans Tore Bjerkaas
Hans-Tore Bjerkaas (born 7 June 1951 in Tromsø) is a former Director-General of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). He began his broadcasting career in 1977, joining NRK's Troms region, where he was deputy editor. Later, he was appointed deputy editor of NRK's Hordaland region. In 1992, he became director of programmes at the private TV 2, but returned to the NRK as the editor of regional programmes in Troms. Later, he became the Head of NRK Television, before returning as the chief editor of NRK Troms and Finnmark. He was appointed Director-General by the NRK board on 24 January 2007, succeeding John G. Einar Førde
Einar Førde (20 January 1943 – 26 September 2004) was a Norwegian journalist and politician of the Labour Party. He served as Minister of Education and Church Affairs from 1979 to 1981, and director-general of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) from 1989 to 2001. He was also vice-chairman of the Norwegian Labour Party 1981–1989. As director of the NRK Førde became a prominent public figure, often known for fearlessly speaking his mind as a knowledgeable political analyst and public debater. After his death Kåre Willoch, former prime minister from the Conservative Party, called him a ground-breaker in society, combining great force of mind with warmth and humour. Bjartmar Gjerde
Bjartmar Alv Gjerde (6 November 1931 – 28 November 2009) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He held several posts as a government minister between 1971 and 1980, and was Norway's first Minister of Petroleum and Energy. He was later the director-general of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation and director of the government agency Aetat. Hans Jacob Ustvedt
Hans Jacob Neumann Ustvedt (4 July 1903 – 26 January 1982) was a Norwegian medical doctor and broadcasting administrator. He was a driving force of the doctors' resistance during World War II, had to flee to Sweden in 1942, and was leading the medical office at the Norwegian legation in Stockholm. He was a professor of internal medicine at the University of Oslo from 1951 to 1962, and Director-General of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) from 1962 to 1972. Kaare Fostervoll
Kaare Fostervoll (3 December 1891 – 6 July 1981) was a Norwegian educator and politician for the Labour Party. From 1949 to 1962 he was the director-general of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). Early career He was born in Kristiansund as a son of school manager Kristen Fostervoll (1856–1920) and Anna Karoline Kvande (1863–1941). He took the examen artium in 1910, graduated from Volda Teacher's College in 1912, and worked as a teacher at various schools from 1912 to 1927. In 1927 he got the cand.philol. degree, and in the same year he became principal of Firda Upper Secondary School, a position he held until 1938 when he got the same position in Ålesund. At Firda he was Norway's youngest principal. While studying he was chairman of Studentmållaget from 1919 to 1920 and the Norwegian Students' Society in 1923. Knut Tvedt
Knut Tvedt (27 September 1906 – 30 September 1989) was a Norwegian director and jurist. He was acting chief executive of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation from 1946 to 1948. Early life and education Tvedt was born in Lier to the teacher and organist Elias Tvedt (1874–1956) and his wife Kristine Margrethe Odberg (1875–1948). He grew up in Drammen and took examen artium there in 1925. In 1930, he graduated from university with a cand.jur. degree. Career After graduating he worked as a lawyer in Sandefjord, Drammen and Kristiansand before being employed as secretary by the Ministry of Labour for four years. In 1932, he was employed as a consultant by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), in which corporation he remained in different positions for almost twenty-five years.
