Direction Générale De La Surveillance Du Territoire
The General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance ( ar, المديرية العامة لمراقبة التراب الوطني, ''Mudīriyyat Murāqabat al-Turāb al-Waṭaniy''; ; , commonly referred to as the DGST or the DST), is the internal intelligence agency of the Moroccan state. It is tasked with the monitoring of potentially subversive domestic activities. Prior to 2005, it was known as the Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire (DST). History The DST emerged from the CAB1, the counter-subversion unit or political police department of the DGSN (''Direction Général de Surveillance du Térritoire''), which is the state police body of Morocco that was created in May 1956. Zakaria Moumni
Zakaria Moumni ( ar, زكرياء مومني ); born 4 February 1980 is a former kickboxer who was detained by the Moroccan authorities between September 2010 and February 2012. Torture incident According to Moumni he was arrested in September 2010 upon his arrival at the Rabat–Salé Airport, he was then blindfolded and taken to a place he'd later identify as the Temara interrogation centre. He was beaten and raped for several days . He was then tried on serious charges and convicted of "immigration scam" based on the testimony of two people he'd never seen. He was then taken to Zaki prison in Salé where he remained until February 2012 when he was released after being issued a royal pardon from Mohammed VI. Later the Moroccan state sued Moumni and the other plaintiffs in a Paris court for libel. 2003 Casablanca Bombings
The 2003 Casablanca bombings were a series of suicide bombings on May 16, 2003, in Casablanca, Morocco. The attacks were the deadliest terrorist attacks in the country's history. Forty-five people were killed in the attacks (33 victims and 12 suicide bombers). The suicide bombers came from the shanty towns of Sidi Moumen, a poor suburb of Casablanca. That same year, Adil Charkaoui, a Casablanca-based resident who was issued a Security Certificate in Montreal, Canada, was charged with supporting terrorism, and rumours allege he may have played a financial role in the bombings. Bombings The 14 bombers, most of whom were between 20 and 23 years old, bombed four places on the night of May 16, 2003. Ahmed Boukhari ( ar, أحمد البوخاري; born 1938 in Safi) is a Moroccan former agent of Cab-1, the political cell of the DST (the Moroccan internal secret service).
