Direc-t is an alternative rock band from Turkey, originally founded in Adana. Their members include Alex Tintaru, Bilge Kösebalaban and Özgür Peştimalci. Band history A car accident resulted in the naming of the band Direc-t in 1997. The band's name Direc-t means "post", named after the post that they crashed into. The band decided to stick with the name Direc-t as it was appealing to the members. The band broke up in 1998 and the re-teamed with different members in 1999. Ozgur Pestimalci joined the band in 1999 as the drummer. Alex Tintaru joined the band in 2000 as the bassist. Direc-t won its first music award in 2001 at the Roxy Music Awards. In 2002 the band shared the same stage with David Byrne, Pulp, Sneaker Pimps and Carl Cox at the Alternative Festival in Istanbul. In 2002 they played on the demo stage at the H2000 festival. Bilge Kösebalaban (born 8 February 1980) is the vocalist and guitar player for Turkish Rock band Direc-t. He was born on the 8 February 1980 in Adana. He started his music career in the early days of his youth when he bought his first guitar during high school. He continued his music life by participating at the Milliyet’s Music contest and from where he won the first prize in Turkey for songwriting on 3 songs. Later on he moved to Ankara to continue his studies at the University of Ankara at the department of Spanish language. Alex Tintaru
Alex Tintaru (born 25 April 1977 in Moldova) is the bass player for Turkish rock bands Direc-t and Dorian. In 1983 Tintaru entered the Music High School of Sergey Rahmanninov and graduated from the piano course in 1991. In 1993 he graduated from the piano and contrabass courses at Stefan Nyaga Music College. In 1998 he received honours as a music teacher from the M. Solokov Open Pedagogy University. Starting from 1990, he played with various bands such as Crystal Shit, Cripples, Fuctory and Vid Sboku in Moldova. Bilge Kosebalaban
The bilge of a ship or boat is the part of the hull that would rest on the ground if the vessel were unsupported by water. The "turn of the bilge" is the transition from the bottom of a hull to the sides of a hull. Internally, the bilges (usually used in the plural in this context) is the lowest compartment on a ship or seaplane, on either side of the keel and (in a traditional wooden vessel) between the floors.
