Diré is a town and commune on the left bank of the Niger River in the Tombouctou Region of Mali. In the 2009 census the population of the commune was 22,365. The town is the administrative center of the Diré Cercle. There are several languages spoken, but the main language is Songhay. The population is predominantly Muslim. Dire is one of the Aanaas in the Oromia of Ethiopia. Miyu was separated from Dire woreda. Located in the southern part of the Borena Zone, Dire is bordered on the south by Kenya, on the west by Teltele, on the north by Yabelo, on the northeast by Arero, and on the east by Moyale. Towns in Dire include Mega and Dubuluk. Overview The altitude of this woreda ranges from 750 to over 2400 meters above sea level; Mount Gaamud (2486 meters) is the highest point. There are no rivers in this woreda. A survey of the land in this woreda shows that 14.3% is arable (7.3% was under cultivation), 47.5% pasture, 17.5% forest, and the remaining 20.7% is considered swampy, degraded or otherwise unusable. Dire Dawa
Dire Dawa ( am, ድሬዳዋ, om, Dirree Dhawaa, 3=Place of Remedy; so, Diridhaba, meaning "where Dir hit his spear into the ground" or "The true Dir", ar, ديري داوا,) is a city in eastern Ethiopia near the Oromia and Somali Region border and one of two chartered cities in Ethiopia (the other being Addis Ababa, the capital). Dire Dawa alongside present-day Sitti Zone were apart of the Dire Dawa autonomous region stipulated in the 1987 Ethiopian Constitution until 1993 when it was split by the federal government into a separately administered chartered city. This was due to the ongoing clashes between the OLF and IGLF and prevented any further escalation. The Dire Wraiths are a fictional extraterrestrial species appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics and IDW Publishing. The Dire Wraiths are the main opponents of Rom the Spaceknight. Publication history The Dire Wraiths first appeared in ''Rom'' #1 (1979) and were created by Bill Mantlo and Al Milgrom. Dire is an American heavy metal band from Quitman, Georgia. History The band began in 2010 with Joran Messer (vocals, lead guitars) and Brandon Wade (bass) and Kyle Robinson (rhythm guitars). The band recorded their self-titled debut EP in 2013, independently. After releasing the EP, the band began writing on their debut album, ''Volume 1''. In 2015, the band went to Nashville, Tennessee to begin recording their album with Jeremiah Scott (Demon Hunter, Living Sacrifice). The next year, the once again went to finish the album with Lee Dyess (In Due Time) at EarthSound Studios.
