Dirce Tutu Quadros
Dirce Maria do Valle Quadros (28 September 1943 — 28 August 2014), better known as Dirce Tutu Quadros, was a Brazilian politician. Quadros was the only child of the former president Jânio Quadros and Eloá do Valle Quadros. She got married at the age of sixteen to journalist Alaor José Gomes, who worked in the office of their father, then governor, and the couple had three daughters. Later, after separating, she remarried and moved to the United States, having a son named John Jânio. Political career In 1986, Quadros ran for constituent federal deputy, but she had problems with her candidacy, which forced her to join the Social Christian Party after her membership records disappeared. After her election in 1986, shortly before her inauguration, she left the PSC and joined the PTB ( Brazilian Labor Party) and served until 1991. The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. José Sarney
José Sarney de Araújo Costa (; born José Ribamar Ferreira de Araújo Costa; 24 April 1930) is a Brazilian politician, lawyer, and writer who served as 31st president of Brazil from 1985 to 1990. He briefly served as the 20th vice president of Brazil for a month between April and May 1985. Sarney was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1955 until 1966 and of the Senate from 1971 until 1985. He was also the Governor of Maranhão from 1966 until 1970. During the Brazilian military dictatorship, Sarney affiliated himself with the government party, ARENA, becoming the president of the party in 1979. Sarney joined the dissenters, and was instrumental in the creation of the Liberal Front Party. Sarney ran for Vice-President on the ticket of Tancredo Neves of PMDB, formerly the opposition party to the military government. The Brazilian Labour Party ( pt, Partido Trabalhista Brasileiro, PTB) is a political party in Brazil founded in 1981 by Ivete Vargas, niece of President Getúlio Vargas. It claims the legacy of the historical PTB, although many historians reject this because the early version of PTB was a center-left party with wide support in the working class. It is the seventh largest political party in Brazil with more than a million affiliated as of 2022.
