Cumberland County Cricket Club
Cumbria County Cricket Club (formerly Cumberland County Cricket Club) is one of twenty minor counties of English and Welsh cricket, minor county cricket, county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. Originally, it represented the Historic counties of England, historic counties of Cumberland and Westmorland. It now represents the Ceremonial counties of England, ceremonial county of Cumbria, as defined by the Lieutenancies Act 1997. Cumbria was first created in 1974 as an non-metropolitan county, administrative county by combining the traditional counties of Cumberland and Westmorland along with Furness (formerly a district in Lancashire) and a small part of north-west Yorkshire. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Cricket Championship Eastern Division and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Richard Ellwood (born 6 April 1965) is a former English cricketer. Ellwood was a right-handed batsman who bowled slow left-arm orthodox. He was born in Penrith, Cumberland. Ellwood made his debut for Cumberland in the 1984 Minor Counties Championship against Lincolnshire. Ellwood played Minor counties cricket for Cumberland from 1984 to 2000, including 49 Minor Counties Championship matches and 11 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. Simon Alexander Jonathan Kippax (born 8 May 1964) is a former English cricketer. Kippax was a right-handed batsman who bowled leg break googly. He was born in Leeds, Yorkshire. Kippax made his debut for Cumberland in the 1995 MCCA Knockout Trophy against Wales Minor Counties. Terence Anderson Hunte (born 4 April 1962) is a former Barbadian cricketer. Hunte was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Saint Philip, Barbados. Barbados Hunte made his first-class debut for Barbados in 1984 against Jamaica. He played first-class cricket for Barbados on 13 occasions, playing his final match against Jamaica in February 1988. Quentin John Hughes (born 17 October 1974) is an English cricketer. Hughes is a left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He was born in Durham, County Durham. Hughes attended Durham Johnston Comprehensive School and St Edmund's College, Cambridge. He made his debut in County Cricket for Durham in the 1991 Minor Counties Championship against Norfolk.
