Abedin Dino
Abedin bey Dino ( tr, Prevezeli Abeddin Bey Dino), also Abedin Pasha ( tr, Prevezeli Abidin Paşa; 5 April 1843, in Preveza – 9 May 1906, in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire) was an Albanian people, Albanian patriot, politician, ideologue and diplomat. As a ''rilindas'' involved in the Albanian National Awakening, he was one of the founders of the League of Prizren and its chief representative for Epirus (1878). Abidin Dino
Abidin Dino (23 March 1913 – 7 December 1993) was a Turkish artist and a well-known painter. Early years Dino was born on 23 March 1913 in Istanbul into an art-loving family. He was grandchild of Abedin Dino, Albanian descended Ottoman diplomat. He started drawing and painting at a young age influenced by his family. As a child he lived in Geneva, Switzerland and France for several years with his parents, returning to Istanbul in 1925. Dino began his secondary education at the American highschool Robert College of Istanbul, but dropped out to devote himself to painting, drawing and writing. His articles and cartoons were soon being published in newspapers and magazines, and in 1933 he and five other young innovative painters founded the “ D Group”, which held several exhibitions of their work. Ahmed Dino
Ahmed Bey Dino (1785–1849) was an Albanian military leader and politician. He was born in 1785 in Preveza to the notable Dino family of the town. He was a close friend and ally of Ali Pasha. In Egypt he was one of the highest ranking generals of Muhammad Ali of Egypt during his conquest of Egypt. In 1844 he funded and built in Preveza the Yeni mosque, which was proclaimed a cultural monument of Preveza in the 2000s. In 1847 he took part in the Albanian Revolt of 1847 led by Zenel Gjoleka. Although the revolt was initially successful Gjoleka was eventually defeated and Ahmed Dino was exiled in Konya where he died in 1849. He was married to Saliha Çapari of the notable Çapari family. His son Abedin Dino became one of the founders of the League of Prizren and for a short period Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ottoman Empire. Ali Dino
Ali Dino ( el, Αλή Ντίνο), also known as Ali Dino Bey ( sq, Ali Bej Dino; el, Αλή Ντίνο Μπέης, 1890–1938) was an Albanian cartoonist and a Member of the Greek Parliament. Biography Dino was born in Chios, in the Vilayet of the Archipelago of the Ottoman Empire in 1890, to Rasih Dino. He was grandson of Abedin Dino, one of the main contributors of the Albanian independence. He became one of the most famous cartoonists in Greece, and was elected in the Greek Parliament for the Preveza prefecture in 1915. Gerald Nicholas Dino
Gerald Nicholas Dino (January 11, 1940 – November 14, 2020) was an American hierarch of the Ruthenian Catholic Church. He was the bishop of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Phoenix from 2008 to 2016. Biography Dino was born in 1940 in Binghamton, New York. On March 21, 1965, he was ordained a priest for the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Passaic. On December 6, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of the Eparchy of Van Nuys, and on March 27, 2008, he was consecrated a bishop. At his request, Pope Benedict XVI transferred the see of the Eparchy of Van Nuys to Phoenix, Arizona in February 2010. Güzin Dino (1910 – May 30, 2013) was a Turkish literary scholar, linguist, translator and writer. She is known for writing from a Marxist perspective. Kenny Dino
Kenneth J. Diono, known professionally as Kenny Dino (July 12, 1939 – December 10, 2009) was an American singer born in Astoria, Queens, New York, United States. Dino's family moved to Hicksville, Long Island in 1955, where he worked on a family farm. He joined the Navy in 1957, and while stationed in Iceland he came in runner-up in a talent show with his version of a song by Elvis Presley. He sang regularly on his tour of duty, and then put together an ensemble back in the States, which toured in Texas and Louisiana. He frequently played with Doug Sahm at the San Antonio Blues Club at this time. He signed with Dot Records around 1960 after moving to New York City, but quickly lost the contract, and signed to Columbia not long after. Rasih Dino (1865–1927 or 1928) was an Albanian politician, diplomat and a figure of the Albanian national movement of the early 20th century. Life Rasih Dino was born in 1865 in Preveza to the notable Dino family of the area. His father was Abedin Dino, one of the founders of the League of Prizren. Rasih Dino's children include Ali, famous cartoonist and member of the Hellenic Parliament, Leyla Dino Ileri, Abidin (named after his father Abidin) famous painter, and Ahmet (named after Rasih's grandfather Ahmed). Shahin Dino was an Albanian politician and diplomat in the Ottoman Empire and independent Albania. He was born in Preveza in modern Greece during the 19th century to the notable local Dino family. In 1897 he was one of the local volunteer irregulars who defended Preveza during the Greco-Turkish War of 1897 against Greek troops.
