Connie Rasinski
J. Conrad "Connie" Rasinski (January 28, 1907 in Torrington, Connecticut – October 13, 1965 in Larchmont, New York) was an animation director who did the 1952 animated short "Hansel and Gretel" among others. Rasinski's "House of Hashimoto" was in competition at the 1961 Cannes Film Festival. Biography Connie Rasinski was born Constantine Rasinski on January 28, 1907 in Torrington, Connecticut. As a young man Rasinski studied with Norman Rockwell at the Art Students League of New York. After a variety of jobs, Rasinski decided to become an animator. In 1930 he became an inker for Terrytoons. In 1937 he became a director at Terrytoons. Carlo Vinci
Carlo Vinci (February 27, 1906 – September 30, 1993) was an American animator active from the 1930s to the 1970s. He is mainly known for his career at the Terrytoons and Hanna-Barbera cartoon studios. Among the characters he animated were the original Mighty Mouse, Yogi Bear and Flintstones. Biography He was born Carlo A. Vinciguerra on February 27, 1906 in the city of New York, as the only son of a family of Italian immigrants. His father Andrea was a barber, and his mother Maria a seamstress. He worked as a commercial artist from 1921 to 1932. In 1933, he was hired at the Van Beuren Studios in New York as an animator, where he trained a young newcomer named Joe Barbera. When Van Beuren closed, Vinci found work at the Terrytoons studio. Paul Houlton Terry (February 19, 1887 – October 25, 1971) was an American cartoonist, screenwriter, film director and producer. He produced over 1,300 cartoons between 1915 and 1955 including the many Terrytoons cartoons. His studio's most famous character is Mighty Mouse, and also created Heckle and Jeckle, Gandy Goose and Dinky Duck. Early life Born in California to Joseph and Minnie Perron, Terry's parents moved to San Francisco where he spent most of his early life there. In 1904 he began working as a news photographer and began to draw cartoons for newspapers, such as the ''San Francisco Chronicle'', ''San Francisco Call'', and the ''San Francisco Examiner''. He contributed to a weekly comic strip about a dog titled "Alonzo" for the ''San Francisco Call'' in 1909, before it was taken over by his brother John a year later. Gandy Goose is a Terrytoons cartoon character who first appeared in the 1938 short ''Gandy the Goose''. He is frequently paired with Sourpuss, a cat, beginning in the 1939 short ''Hook Link and Sinker''. Sourpuss' first appearance was in the 1939 ''The Owl and the Pussycat''. Originally voiced by composer and orchestral arranger Arthur Kay from 1939–1941, Gandy spoke in a lyrical vocal parody of radio comedian Ed Wynn while Sourpuss vocally impersonated an impatient Jimmy Durante. Their surreal adventures often showcase extended dreams, bookended by coarse bedroom arguments. Gandy was used to promote the U.S. war effort during World War II.
