Padstow
Padstow (; kw, Lannwedhenek) is a town, civil parishes in England, civil parish and fishing port on the north coast of Cornwall, England. The town is situated on the west bank of the River Camel estuary approximately northwest of Wadebridge, northwest of Bodmin and northeast of Newquay. The population of Padstow civil parish was 3,162 in the United Kingdom Census 2001, 2001 census, reducing to 2,993 at the 2011 census. Dinas Powys railway station is one of two railway stations serving the village of Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. Pen Dinas is the name of a large hill within the boundary of the village of Penparcau, on the coast of Ceredigion, Wales, (just south of Aberystwyth) upon which an extensive Iron Age, Celtic hillfort of international significance is situated. The site can easily be reached on foot from Aberystwyth town center and is accessible via a series of well marked trails. Boasting a commanding position at the confluence of the River Ystwyth and Afon Rheidol, it has been described as "the pre-eminent hillfort on the Cardigan Bay coast". The name is more correctly 'Dinas Maelor', this could be translated into English as 'Maelor's Fort' or 'Maelor's City'. Tradition refers to it as being the fort of the giant Maelor Gawr. Llyn Dinas
Llyn Dinas is a lake near Beddgelert, Gwynedd in north Wales. It is formed by the River Glaslyn. Llyn Dinas lies on the valley floor a few miles north of Beddgelert at an altitude of about 55 metres above sea level. It has an area of and is fairly shallow, with the maximum depth only 10 metres. The lake offers good fishing for salmon and trout. It takes its name from the nearby Dinas Emrys, a rocky and wooded hill just downstream of the lake where the remains of both medieval and older fortifications have been found. A rock near the lake named ''Carreg yr Eryr'' (The stone of the eagle) was said in a charter of 1198 to mark the spot where the boundaries of the three cantrefs of Aberconwy, Ardudwy and Arfon met. Castell Dinas is a hillfort and castle in southern Powys, Wales. At 450 m (1,476 feet) (SO179301) it has the highest castle in England and Wales. Dinas Rhondda Railway Station
Dinas Rhondda railway station is a railway station serving the Dinas, Penygraig and Trealaw districts of Tonypandy, Wales. It is located on the Rhondda Line. The station has one platform with one small station shelter and is accessible by a small connector road. There is evidence of a previous platform, which originally served North bound trains to Treherbert, but this was left abandoned after rationalisation in 1982, which saw the removal of the northbound line. Today the platform is heavily overgrown. It has a car park, even though it is one of the smaller stations on the line. Dinas is a village near Tonypandy in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Dinas is often referred to as Dinas Rhondda to avoid confusion with Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan. The word ' in Modern Welsh means "city", but here (as in Old and Middle Welsh more generally) it means "hill fort". Location Dinas is located in the lower Rhondda Valley about halfway between Treorchy and Pontypridd. Neighbouring settlements are Penygraig, Trealaw, Tonypandy, Cymmer and Porth. The Dinas Powys hillfort is an Iron Age hillfort near Dinas Powys, Glamorgan, Wales.#Alc63, Alcock 1963. p. 01. It is just Hillforts in Britain, one of several thousand hillforts to have been constructed around Great Britain during the British Iron Age, for reasons that are still debatable. The main fort at Dinas Powys was constructed on the northernmost point of the hill in either the third or 2nd century BCE, with two further constructs, known as the Southern Banks, being built further down on the southern end of the hill in the following 1st century BCE. It appears that occupation at the site ceased during the period of Roman Britain, but was re-inhabited by an Early Mediaeval settlement in the 5th century CE, who constructed further additions to the fort. Dinas Powys (; also spelt "Dinas Powis" in English) is a small town and community (Wales), community in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. Its name means "fort of the provincial place" and refers to the Dinas Powys hillfort, Iron Age hillfort which overlooks the village.
