Dinamo Batumi
FC Dinamo Batumi is a Georgian football club based in Batumi, Adjara, and current vice-champion of Erovnuli Liga, the top division of Georgian football system. The club has won the league (2021), the Georgian Cup ( 1997-98) and Super Cup (1997-98, 2022). They have also earned silver medals of the league five times. In 1990 they changed the name to ''FC Batumi'' only to reverse the decision in 1994. Dinamo plays their home matches at Batumi Stadium. History Early period Prior to the formation of this club, there were some other teams existing in the city. In 1923 newly established two clubs called ''Mezgvauri'' (The Sailor) and ''Tsiteli Raindi'' (The Red Knight) merged and became Dinamo Batumi. Football was becoming more popular in Adjara later, although Dinamo participated only in the lower divisions of Soviet championship. The Adjarabet Arena ( ka, ბათუმის სტადიონი, ''batumis st’adioni'') known as Batumi Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Batumi, Georgia, which was completed in July 2020. The main tenant of the stadium is FC Dinamo Batumi, who moved from their home at the Dinamo Batumi Angisa football base when it was completed. The capacity of the Stadium is 20,000. History Construction began in January 2018 and was completed in July 2020. Its inauguration, postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, took place on 27 October 2020 with an official ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia. It has a capacity of 20,000 seats and hosts FC Dinamo Batumi's home matches. It belongs to UEFA category 4 and from 2021 will occasionally host matches of the Georgian national football team.
