Dina Lebo Phalula
Dina Lebo Phalula (born 9 December 1983) is a South African long distance runner who specialises in the marathon. She competed in the women's marathon event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She finished in 63rd place with a time of 2:41:46. She has a twin sister who is also an athlete, the similarly named Lebogang Phalula. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile". The demands of the race are similar to that of the 800 metres, but with a slightly higher emphasis on aerobic endurance and a slightly lower sprint speed requirement. Lebogang Phalula (born 9 December 1983) is a South African long-distance runner. In 2009, she competed in the senior women's race at the 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championships held in Amman, Jordan. She finished in 29th place. In 2018, she competed in the women's half marathon at the 2018 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships held in Valencia, Spain. She finished in 97th place. In 2011, she received a six-month ban from the sport after giving a positive test for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine. She won the 800 metres title at the 2005 South African Athletics Championships.
