Dimitri Poliakov
Dimitri Poliakov (born 19 January 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Ukraine. Career Poliakov, a clay court specialist and the Soviet singles champion in 1990, had his breakthrough year in 1991, when he won the ATP Studena Croatia Open, Yugoslavia Open, an ATP Tour event. This saw him break into the top 100 for the first time. He was also runner-up in the Austrian Open Kitzbühel, Austrian Open, with partner Pablo Arraya. These would be the only two ATP Tour finals that he reached during his career. In 1993 he made it into the semi-finals of the 1993 Kremlin Cup – Singles, Kremlin Cup, as qualifier. He defeated number three seed Amos Mansdorf in the opening round and then best Zimbabwean Byron Black 6–0, 6–3 and Martin Damm of the Czech Republic. Amos Mansdorf
Amos Mansdorf ( he, עמוס מנסדורף; born 20 October 1965) is an Israeli former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking was World No. 18 (achieved in November 1987), the highest ever for any male Israeli tennis player. His career-high doubles ranking was World No. 67 (May 1986). Early and personal life Mansdorf grew up in Ramat HaSharon, a small city north of Tel Aviv, and is Jewish. All four of his grandparents had emigrated from Poland to Israel in the 1930s. His father Jacob is a chemical engineer, and his mother Era is a teacher. He started playing tennis when he was 10 years old. He trained at the Israel Tennis Centers. He lives in Herzlia, Israel. The Russia men's national tennis team until it was suspended in 2022 represented Russia in Davis Cup tennis competition. It is governed by the Russian Tennis Federation. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition. Andrei Medvedev ( uk, Андрій Медведєв, Andriy Medvedyev; born 31 August 1974) is a Ukrainian former professional tennis player. Medvedev reached the final of the 1999 French Open, the French Open semifinals in 1993, and won four Masters titles during his career, achieving a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in May 1994. The Vienna Open (currently sponsored by Erste Bank and called the Erste Bank Open) is a professional tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. Carlos Costa (tennis)
Carles ("Carlos") Costa Masferrer (born 22 April 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Costa turned professional in 1988. He was among the game's leading clay court players in the early 1990s. Costa was runner-up at the 1992 Italian Open, and reached the fourth round at that year's French Open and US Open. Additionally, Costa won the Barcelona Open, a tournament hosted by the tennis club where he grew up. In May 1992, he reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 10. Costa retired in 1999. In April 2006 he played in the 2006 Seniors Torneo Godó event in Barcelona where he lost to Sergi Bruguera in the final. Marc Rosset (born 7 November 1970) is a Swiss former professional tennis player. He is best known for winning the men's singles gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He also won a major doubles title, at the French Open in 1992 partnering compatriot Jakob Hlasek. Career Rosset turned professional in 1988 and won his first tour singles title in 1989 in Geneva as a wildcard, defeating Guillermo Pérez Roldán. His first doubles title was won in Geneva as well in 1991 with partner Sergi Bruguera. 1992 was the pinnacle of Rosset's career.
