Dimension Data Pro-Am
The Dimension Data Pro-Am is an annual golf tournament on the Southern African Sunshine Tour, founded in 1996. The tournament was co-sanctioned by the European Tour for the first two years. In 2020 it was co-sanctioned with the Challenge Tour and had increased prize money of US$340,000 (R 6,300,000). Since 2011 the winner has received an entry into the WGC Invitational. George, Western Cape
George is the second largest city in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Dean Burmester
Dean Burmester (born 2 June 1989) is a South African professional golfer who plays in the LIV Golf League, as well as having status on the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. He formerly played on the PGA Tour. Early life Burmester was born in Mutare, Zimbabwe but represents South Africa in golf. His father, Mark Burmester, played international cricket for Zimbabwe while his mother Michelle holds (as of 2022) the women's course record at Royal Harare Golf Club, his home course. Career Burmester has won eight times on the Sunshine Tour, including the 2015 Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open. He also won the 2017 Tshwane Open which was a co-sanctioned Sunshine Tour and European Tour event. In May 2021, Burmester claimed his second European Tour victory at the Tenerife Open. The 2016–17 Sunshine Tour was the 17th season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was relaunched in 2000, and the 10th since the tour switched a calendar based season in 2007. It marked a return to a multi-year schedule, the first since the 2006–07 Sunshine Tour season, and ended in March 2017. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. Justin Walters
Justin Jeremy Walters (born 23 October 1980) is a South African professional golfer. His mother is English and has played for England in team play. Walters played college golf at Huntingdon College, winning the 2001 NAIA Championship. He then transferred to North Carolina State University where he won three times and was an All-American in 2002 and 2003. He turned professional in 2003. Walters plays on the Sunshine Tour where he has won twice, most recently at the 2011 Investec Royal Swazi Open. He began playing on the Challenge Tour in 2012. Walters has finished runner-up four times on the European Tour; twice at the Portugal Masters in 2013 and 2019, as well as the Joburg Open in 2014. He also tied for the lead after 72 holes at the 2020 ISPS Handa UK Championship, but was defeated in a playoff by Rasmus Højgaard. George Coetzee
George William Coetzee (born 18 July 1986) is a South African professional golfer. He has won five tournaments on the European Tour and 13 on the Sunshine Tour, where he has also topped the Order of Merit on two occasions. Early life Coetzee was born in Pretoria and matriculated from the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in 2004. He started playing golf when he was 10 and won the first junior tournament he ever played in, shooting 49 in 9 holes. 2020 Challenge Tour
The 2020 Challenge Tour is a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 and was originally called the Satellite Tour, before being renamed with its present title in 1990. After beginning with three tournaments in South Africa co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, the remainder of the season was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with many tournaments being cancelled or postponed.
