''Dilettantes'' is the eighth studio album by the Australian rock band You Am I, released on 13 September 2008. It was recorded at Electric Avenue Studios in Sydney and Sing Sing South in Melbourne before being mixed at Studios 301 in Sydney. The first single, "Erasmus", was premiered on Triple J radio on Dools & Linda's show on 6 August, and was released on iTunes along with the album's title track as a downloadable single on 6 September. Video clips were released in November for "Beau Geste" and " Givin' Up And Gettin Fat" to be released as radio/iTunes singles. The title track, "Dilettantes", was previewed as streaming audio on The Vine from 30 July 2008. Dilettante was an online classical music hub based in London, England. The platform enabled classical music fans from around the world to connect and share with each other. Dilettante Press is a now defunct independent book publisher, co-founded by Jodi Wille, Nick Rubenstein, and Steven Nalepa in 1998, joined soon after by partner Hedi El Kholti. Dilettante was a publishing house dedicated to "challeng ngtraditional notions of art and culture," focusing its efforts on featuring visionary, outsider, vernacular art in books. Dilettante only published three titles, but "their impact was considerable." Dilettante’s first book, ''The End Is Near! Visions of Apocalypse, Millennium and Utopia'', won the Benjamin Franklin Award for Best First Book. Their subsequent titles included: ''Extreme Canvas: Hand-Painted Movie Posters from Ghana.'' The Society of Dilettanti (founded 1734) is a British society of noblemen and scholars that sponsors the study of ancient Greek and Roman art, and the creation of new work in the style.
