''The Private Secretary'' (German: ''Die Privatsekretärin'') is a 1931 German musical film directed by Wilhelm Thiele and starring Renate Müller, Hermann Thimig and Felix Bressart. The film's sets were designed by Otto Hunte and Franz Koehn. An English-language version ''Sunshine Susie'' was made, also starring Renate Müller. A French-language version ''Dactylo'' and an Italian-language ''The Private Secretary'' were also made. The film was remade in 1953. It was based on a 1905 novel by István Szomaházy. Wilhelm Thiele
Wilhelm Thiele (1890–1975) was an Austrian screenwriter and film director. He directed over 40 films between 1921 and 1960. Life and career Thiele started his show career as a stage actor. He got his start in Austrian and German film during the 1920s, most often as a director of film comedies. His biggest success was the highly influential musical film '' The Three from the Filling Station'' (1930), the highest-grossing film in Germany that year. Goffredo Alessandrini (20 November 1904, in Cairo – 16 May 1978, in Rome) was an Italian scriptwriter and film director. He also acted, edited, and produced some films. He practiced athletics in his youth, and won a title of Italian champion on 110 meters hurdles in 1925. Biography He started in films collaborating with Alessandro Blasetti and was one of the most important film directors under Italian Fascism. His films received several awards at the Venice Film Festival during the Fascist era: the Mussolini Cup for Best Italian film in 1938, for ''Luciano Serra pilota'', and in 1939 for ''Abuna Messias''. Ludwig Stössel (12 February 1883 – 29 January 1973) was an actor born in Lockenhaus, now Austria, then Hungary. He was one of many Jewish actors and actresses who were forced to flee Germany when the Nazis came to power in 1933. Biography Stössel began performing on the stage in Austria and Germany when he was only 17. He soon became a successful character actor and performed on the most prestigious stages in Germany, among them the Max Reinhardt, the stage and the in Berlin. Stössel later became a movie actor.
