Die Liga – Fußballverband e.V. (sometimes stylised as DIE LIGA – Fußballverband e.V.), or simply Die Liga – Fußballverband ("The League – Football Association"), and often shortened to Ligaverband ("League Association"), is the parent company of the ''Deutsche Fußball Liga''. The ''Ligaverband'' is an association of the 36 German professional football clubs (or their companies) that partake in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, which represents their interests, especially against the German Football Association (''Deutscher Fußball-Bund'', DFB). Function On 30 September 2000, at the extraordinary congress of the DFB-Bundestag in Mainz, the 36 professional clubs were released into the independence they had been demanding for many years. Alexander Wehrle
Alexander Wehrle (; born 11 February 1975) is a German sports administrator who has served as the chairman of Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart since 2022. From 2013 to 2022, he worked as the managing director of 1. FC Köln. Wehrle is part of the executive committee of the Deutsche Fußball Liga. Christian Seifert (born 8 May 1969, in Rastatt) is a German entrepreneur and business manager who served as a CEO of the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) from 2019 to 2021. Reinhard Rauball (born 25 December 1946) is a German politician, member of the SPD, a trained lawyer, and football official. He is known for having served as president of football team Borussia Dortmund several times and also served very briefly as Minister of Justice of North Rhine-Westphalia. The DFB-Hallenpokal, also known as Hallen-Masters (Indoor Championship), was a five-a-side indoor football competition which was held from 1988 to 2001 under the direction of the German Football Association (German: Deutscher Fußball-Bund, DFB). DFL-Ligapokal
The DFL-Ligapokal (, officially Premiere Ligapokal , previously DFB-Ligapokal ) or the ''German League Cup'' was a German football competition that took place before the start of the Bundesliga season, featuring the top five teams of the previous Bundesliga season and the winners of the DFB-Pokal in Germany. The cup was known as the Premiere-Ligapokal after 2005, when Premiere, a German pay television network, took up sponsorship of the competition. The Ligapokal was not held in 2008 due to schedule crowding caused by the UEFA Euro 2008. Instead, the German Supercup was held on 23 July. The Ligapokal was not held in 2009 either, due to the German Football Association's decision to abolish it.
