Comeback Kid (band)
Comeback Kid is a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in March 2001 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band currently consists of vocalist Andrew Neufeld, guitarists Jeremy Hiebert and Stu Ross, bassist Chase Brenneman and drummer Loren Legare. Since its formation, the band have released seven studio albums and seventeen music videos. Their seventh studio album, ''Heavy Steps'', was released in January 2022. History The band was formed in March 2001, by Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert who were both members of the band Figure Four, joined by their friends Scott Wade and Kyle Profeta, originally intended only to be a side project. The band's name, originally "The Comeback Kid", comes from a headline in a newspaper about hockey player Mario Lemieux coming back to the NHL. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. Distort Entertainment is a Canadian independent record label based in Toronto, Ontario. The label specializes in bands performing hardcore punk-derived music, including Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats and Johnny Truant, but its sister division Distort Light has also released less aggressive rock bands such as Bend Sinister. Victory Records is a Chicago-based record label founded by Tony Brummel. It operates a music publishing company called "Another Victory, Inc." and is the distributor of several record labels. It has featured many prominent artists including Thursday, Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, Streetlight Manifesto, and A Day to Remember. In September 2019, years after buying part of the label's catalogue, Concord bought Victory Records and Another Victory for $30 million. ''Symptoms + Cures'' is the fourth studio album by Canadian hardcore punk band Comeback Kid. It was released on August 31, 2010. It's the band's first album released through Distort Entertainment after their previous record label Smallman Records went out of business. It's also distributed in the US through Victory Records. ''Symptoms + Cures'' was recorded with Eric Ratz and Kenny Luong, both of which have previously worked with the Canadian punk bands Cancer Bats and Billy Talent. The release is the second studio album to feature Andrew Neufeld as a vocalist after the 2007 album, '' Broadcasting...''. Neufeld previously played guitar for Comeback Kid and only began to sing for the band after the former vocalist Scott Wade left in 2006.
