Die Alpensaga
''Die Alpensaga'' is a six-part Austrian television drama film by Peter Turrini and Wilhelm Pevny. It was filmed between 1976 and 1980 under the direction of Dieter Berner. A critical portrayal of the social structures in the countryside and the effects of the political crises in the first half of the 20th century in Upper Austria, it follows the Hubers, an Austrian farming family. Peer Raben composed the music for the series. Critically acclaimed, it has been compared by critics to Bertolucci's epic film ''1900''. A three-volume book edition of the series was published in 1980. Otto Tausig (13 February 1922 – 10 October 2011) was an Austrian writer, director and actor. Although he usually appeared in German language films, he also played in English language films such as ''Love Comes Lately'', and in French language films such as '' La Reine Margot'' and ''Place Vendôme''. Lukas Resetarits (born 14 October 1947, in Stinatz) is an Austrian cabaret artist and actor, best known for playing police inspector Kottan in the Austrian TV series '' Kottan ermittelt''. Resetarits was born in the Austrian state Burgenland, but his family moved to Vienna when he was at the age of four. Resetarits attended Austrian gymnasium which he finished in 1965. He studied psychology and philosophy at the University of Vienna, at the same time jobbing as rock singer, construction worker and traffic officer at the Vienna International Airport. Karl Paryla (1905–1996) was an Austrian theater actor and director, and later a film maker as well. A lifelong, dedicated communist, his career in the Austrian theater was first interrupted by the Second World War, and then strained by Cold War politics. In the 1950s he began working in East Germany, where he performed as an actor and directed plays and films. An actor trained in the school of Constantin Stanislavski, he is praised for the realism he brought to his performances especially in Johann Nestroy's plays and for his ability to organize large ensembles dynamically on the stage.
