Didn't It Rain (Hugh Laurie Album)
''Didn't It Rain'' is the second studio album by English people, English actor and musician Hugh Laurie. Recorded in Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles in January 2013, the album contains several blues songs (like its predecessor, ''Let Them Talk (Hugh Laurie album), Let Them Talk''). Unlike his previous album, however, Laurie also branches further into other Southern United States, Southern US and South American genres, including jazz, rhythm and blues, R&B, and Tango (music), tango. Similarly to ''Let Them Talk'', Laurie once again plays piano and guitar, and often provides vocals. Additionally, Laurie is joined by guest musicians Gaby Moreno, Jean McClain, and Taj Mahal (musician), Taj Mahal, and is supported throughout by the Copper Bottom Band. James Hugh Calum Laurie (; born 11 June 1959) is an English actor, comedian, writer, and musician. He first gained recognition for his work as one half of the comedy double act Fry and Laurie with Stephen Fry. Gregory Brian Leisz ( ; born September 18, 1949) is an American musician. He is a songwriter, recording artist, and producer. He plays guitar, dobro, mandolin, lap steel and pedal steel guitar. Biography Leisz grew up in the garage band culture of mid-1960s Southern California. He spent time at the Ashgrove, the Troubador, and clubs on the Sunset Strip . He began playing guitar and soon added dobro and lap steel. He was inspired to pick up the pedal steel after hearing Sneaky Pete Kleinow and Buddy Emmons. In 1975, he toured with John Stewart (formerly of The Kingston Trio). He was a member of Funky Kings who released their eponymous debut album on Arista Records in 1976. Vincent Henry (born November 1953) is an American saxophonist and guitarist who plays jazz and R&B. Career Henry was born in New York and grew up in Harlem. He started venturing out to concerts and clubs on his own when he was 14. In the early 1980s, he was part of the disco group Change. He also played with Johnny Kemp on his 1987 album '' Secrets of Flying'', including taking a significant role shaping the R&B top five hit, "Dancin' with Myself" (the follow-up to the album's massive first hit, " Just Got Paid"). Kevin Breit is a Canadian musician from Northern Canada. Breit has collaborated in numerous bands, and recorded solo albums on his own Poverty Playlist label, and Stony Plain Records. Jean McClain (born March 8, 1953), better known as Pepper Mashay, is an American soul, house and dance music singer-songwriter who has had success as a touring and studio performer. Early life McClain grew up in Muncie, Indiana. Growing up, her musical influences were Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. She left Indiana in her twenties to pursue her career.
