Arend Dickmann
Arend Dickmann, (1572 – 28 November 1627) ​also originally spelled as Dijckman, was an Admiral of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth Navy, that commanded the fleet in the Battle of Oliwa in 1627, during the Polish–Swedish War. History Before the military service Dickmann was Dutch born in Delft, Netherlands in 1572. Since 1608, he lived in Gdańsk, Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, where he was the captain and owner of a merchant ship that transported cereal and oak wood. Military service In 1626, he joined the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth Navy during the Polish–Swedish War. On 24 November 1627, he was given the rank of admiral, becoming the commander-in-chief of the navy. He served aboard the fleet flagship ''Ritter Sankt Georg''. On 28 November 1627, he commanded the fleet during the Battle of Oliwa, a major encounter during the war, that was fought in the Gdańsk Bay. Barbara Dickmann
Barbara Dickmann (born 21 June 1942 in Kattowitz, Silesia) is a German journalist. Career Barbara Dickmann began studying sports, but broke it off in 1964 in favour of a traineeship at the ''Neue Presse'' in Würzburg, where she rose to become a local editor. From 1967 she worked for ''Hessischer Rundfunk'', in 1971 she presented the ''Hessenschau''. In 1977 she moved to ARD Tagesthemen as editor and first woman presenter (from 1979), in 1983 she became head of the Bonn Stern office. In 1983, she was commissioned by ''Stern TV'' to shoot the film ''Der Fund'', which was to document the sensational discovery of the Hitler diaries. In 1985, Dickmann took up her work as editor-in-chief at UFA and became programme officer for Bertelsmann. Ernst Dieter Dickmanns is a German pioneer of dynamic computer vision and of driverless cars. Dickmanns has been a professor at Bundeswehr University Munich (1975–2001), and visiting professor to Caltech and to MIT, teaching courses on "dynamic vision". Biography Dickmanns was born in 1936. He studied aerospace and aeronautics at RWTH Aachen (1956–1961), and control engineering at Princeton University (1964/65); from 1961 to 1975 he was associated with the German Aero-Space Research Establishment (now DLR) Oberpfaffenhofen, working in the fields of flight dynamics and trajectory optimization. In 1971/72 he spent a Post-Doc Research Associateship with the NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville (orbiter re-entry).
