Dick Turpin (1925 Film)
''Dick Turpin'' is a 1925 American silent historical adventure film directed by John G. Blystone produced and distributed by Fox Film Corporation and starring western hero Tom Mix. Mix departs from his usual western roles to play a British historical figure, the highwayman Dick Turpin (1705-1739). A young Carole Lombard was filmed in several scenes which mostly ended up on the cutting room floor. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, several hundred years ago in England there was a famous highwayman, Dick Turpin (Mix), who preyed upon the rich and helped the poor. One day he encountered Lord Churlton (McCullough) and, a little later, in aiding a coach attacked by ruffians, he finds it contains Lady Brookfield (Myers). She tells him that she must marry Lord Churlton. Dick discloses his identity and offers to aid her. Lucille Hutton
Lucille Hutton (1898 – 1979) was an American film actress of the silent era. She appeared in 56 films between 1916 and 1931. Hutton was born in Los Angeles, California, and attended Sacred Heart Academy there. Before working in films, she performed on stage in Los Angeles with the Morosco Stock Company and in vaudeville on the Keith and Orpheum circuits. Hutton's first feature film was '' The Miracle Man'' (1919). She appeared opposite Bobby Vernon in a series of comedy films. Hutton married Donald Carlos Jacobson in March 1929 in Honolulu. They were divorced on August 26, 1930, and on August 27, 1930, she married George G. Buckingham. She filed for divorce from Buckingham on February 21, 1931. Tom Mix Filmography
Tom Mix (1880–1940) was an American motion picture actor, director, and writer whose career spanned from 1910 to 1935. During this time he appeared in 270 films and established himself as the screen's most popular cowboy star. Mix's flair for showmanship set the standard for later cowboy heroes such as Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. His horse Tony also became a celebrity who received his own fan mail. Born in Pennsylvania, Mix served in the United States Army before moving to the Oklahoma Territory in 1902. Three years later, after working as a physical fitness instructor, bartender, and peace officer, he was hired as a full-time cowboy for the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch. Soon after, Mix established himself as the star attraction of the Millers' Wild West Show. In early 1910 Mix agreed to work as an actor and wrangler for the Selig Polyscope Company. Sid Jordan
Sid Jordan (August 12, 1889 – September 30, 1970) was an American film actor. Biography Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1889, Jordan was introduced to acting through his close friend Tom Mix, when both men were serving as the "Night Marshalls" of Dewey, Oklahoma. Ironically, it was Sid Jordan's father (Col. John Jordan) who helped Sid and Tom Mix obtain their jobs as Night Marshalls, as John Jordan was Sheriff of Washington County, Oklahoma. Sid and Tom made their first film together in Oklahoma, then starred in many films together in Los Angeles, along with Victoria Forde, Tom Mix's wife at that time. Jordan appeared in 130 films between 1913 and 1944. He died in Hemet, California, in 1970.
