Dick Maas
Dirk Herman Willem Maas (Dick) (born 15 April 1951) is a Dutch film director, screenwriter, film producer and film composer. Maas achieved fame after the success of his music videos for the Dutch band Golden Earring, including "Twilight Zone (Golden Earring song), Twilight Zone" and the controversial "When the Lady Smiles," and his films ''De Lift'', ''Amsterdamned'' and ''Flodder'' in the 1980s. Maas also directed the controversial Saint Nicolas slasher ''Sint'' (Saint Nick) and one episode of the TV series ''Young Indiana Jones''. The film ''Karakter'' won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1996. Maas served as executive producer. The film was produced by his production company First Floor Features, founded in 1984. He left the company, which he started with Laurens Geels, in 2001. Heemstede
Heemstede () is a town and a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is the fourth richest municipality of the Netherlands. History Heemstede formed around the Castle ''Heemstede'' that was built overlooking the Spaarne River around 1286. Before 1296, Floris V, Count of Holland, granted Heemstede as a fiefdom to Reinier of Holy. During the 14th century, a village formed near the castle, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times in this period. A resident of this castle was Adriaan Pauw, who bought it in 1620. In 1653, Bennebroek split off from Heemstede, becoming a separate fiefdom. Growth was slow, and in 1787 Heemstede counted 196 families. Even at that early date Heemstede had already gained the reputation it has today, of being primarily a "bedroom community" for the cities of Haarlem and Amsterdam. ''The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles'' is an American television series that aired on ABC from March 4, 1992, to July 24, 1993. Filming took place in various locations around the world, with "Old Indy" bookend segments filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina and on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. ''Down'' (re-titled ''The Shaft'' on DVD) is a 2001 science fiction horror film written and directed by Dick Maas and starring James Marshall, Naomi Watts, and Eric Thal. It is a remake of the 1983 Dutch-language film ''De Lift'' (''The Elevator''), which was also directed by Maas. Watts plays the role of pushy journalist Jennifer Evans, and Marshall is Mark, an elevator repairman and former Marine. Loïs Lane is a Dutch girl group consisting of the sisters Suzanne and Monique Klemann. The band was named after Superman's girlfriend, Lois Lane, from DC Comics. In the U.S. they are known as Lois L. Biography The group was founded in 1984 by Monique Klemann; however, her background singer Angela left the group in 1985 and was replaced by her sister Suzanne Klemann. The sisters are of Indo (Eurasian) descent.
