Richard Edwardes
Richard Edwardes (also Edwards, 25 March 1525 – 31 October 1566) was an English poet, playwright, and composer; he was made a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal, and was master of the singing boys. He was known for his comedies and interludes. He was also rumoured to be an illegitimate son of Henry VIII. Life Richard Edwardes was born in 1525 in Somerset. Edwardes began his studies at Corpus Christi College, Oxford in May 1540 and joined Christ Church, Oxford as it opened in 1546. He joined Lincoln's Inn but did not take up law as a career. He joined the Chapel Royal by 1557 and was appointed Master of the Children in 1561. He married Helene Griffith in 1563. After he died in 1566, he was succeeded by William Hunnis. Richard Martin "Prof" Edwards (born 3 June 1940), is a former cricketer. He played five Test matches as an opening bowler for the West Indies on the tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1968–69. After leaving The Lodge School in Barbados, he played for Barbados between 1961–62 and 1969–70. Altogether he played 35 first-class matches in his career. Richard Edwards (born April 15, 1983) is a Jamaican former footballer and serves on the technical staff for Brampton Soccer Club. Playing career Edwards began his career in 2004 with Waterhouse F.C. in the National Premier League. In 2006, he signed with Harbour View F.C., and won the league title in 2007, 2010, and the 2007 CFU Club Championship. In 2012, he went overseas to Finland to sign with Mikkelin Palloilijat in the Kakkonen. At the conclusion of the season he returned home to sign with Harbour View. In 2013, he went abroad to Canada to sign with the York Region Shooters of the Canadian Soccer League. During his tenure with York Region he won the CSL Championship in 2014, 2017, along with the league title in 2014, and 2016. Richard Edwards (1842 – 29 October 1915) was an Australian politician. He was a Member of the Australian House of Representatives. Early life Richard Edwards was born in 1842 in Montgomeryshire, Wales. He migrated to Australia in 1862, becoming first a goldminer in Victoria and then a shopkeeper in Brisbane. He invested in both sugar and newspapers. Elizabeth Munro Edwards (née Gibson) was born in Scotland on 11 May 1840 and came to Australia with her parents, Thomas Gibson and Christina Thompson in 1864. Three years later she married Richard. Interested in politics also, she hosted the first women's suffrage league in Brisbane in 1889, and was appointed as the Government representative to a Royal Commission on working conditions in Shops and Factories. Richard Edwards (December 23, 1822 – March 7, 1908) was a Welsh American educator from Ceredigion (Cardinganshire). Emigrating to the United States with his family when he was a child, Edwards studied at the State Normal School in Bridgewater, Massachusetts and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He then led a number of schools: the Boys' High School in Salem, Massachusetts (1853–1854); the State Normal School in Salem (1854–1857); the Normal School in St. Louis, Missouri (1857–1861); Illinois State Normal University (1862–1876); and Blackburn University(1891–1893). Richard Edwards (Royal Navy Officer, Died 1795)
Admiral Richard Edwards (c. 1715 – 3 February 1795) naval officer and colonial governor of Newfoundland. Naval career Edwards was promoted to lieutenant in 1740 and to captain in 1753. He was appointed governor of Newfoundland for his first term in 1757. His main concern was defence of the colony as Great Britain and France were at war. Edwards was re-appointed governor for a second term in 1779 and was again concerned with the colony's defences – only this time against American privateers. In 1780 he formed the Newfoundland Volunteers under the command of Robert Pringle. Edwards ordered the construction of Fort Townshend ( see Lord Townshend) and the Quidi Vidi batteries including those at Petty Harbour. Promoted vice-admiral in 1787, he became in Commander-in-Chief, The Nore in 1788. He was promoted to Admiral of the Blue in 1794.
