Dick Carruthers
Dick Carruthers (born 25 March 1966, Sussex, England) is an English music video and film director, based in London, England. He directed the Led Zeppelin ''Celebration Day'' film and The Rolling Stones ''Bridges To Babylon'' DVD (as live concert director) as well as many other live music videos. Carruthers' work on the Oasis ''Definitely Maybe'' DVD was nominated for two BAFTAs. Education Carruthers attended Winchester University (then known as King Alfred's College) where he completed a BA (Hons) degree in Drama Theatre and Television Studies. Career Before success in the music and film industries, Carruthers worked in corporate videos and in the conference and events industries. He began his directing career in the music business touring with English pop group Take That in 1993. He also toured with Jamiroquai, Texas, and Oasis. ''Celebration Day'' is a concert film and live album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, recorded at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert on 10 December 2007, in The O Arena, London. The film was given a limited theatrical release starting on 17 October 2012, and was released on several home audio and video formats on 19 November 2012. The performance, the film, and album releases have been widely praised. Recording and promotion In 2007, a benefit concert to commemorate the life of music executive Ahmet Ertegun was staged with a reunited Led Zeppelin as the main act. Glasgow Barrowlands
The Barrowland Ballroom (also known as Barrowlands) is a dance hall and music venue in Glasgow, Scotland. History The original building opened in 1934 in a mercantile area east of Glasgow's city centre, built by Maggie McIver, the "Barras Queen". The area and the ballroom are named after the Glasgow Barrowland market. The building was completely rebuilt after being largely destroyed by fire in 1958, and reopened on 24 December 1960. The Barrowland building includes large street-level halls used for the weekend markets, with a large weatherproof hall above. The front of the building is decorated with a large animated neon sign. In recent years the ballroom has become a concert venue with a capacity of 1,900 standing, known for its acoustics and its sprung dance floor. Sarah Brightman (born 14 August 1960) is an English classical crossover soprano singer, actress and dancer. Brightman began her career as a member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and released several disco singles as a solo performer. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are an English rock band formed in 2010 as the solo moniker of former Oasis songwriter, lead guitarist, and backing vocalist Noel Gallagher. The touring band consists of former Oasis members Gem Archer (guitar), Mike Rowe (piano), and Chris Sharrock (drums), as well as former Zutons member Russell Pritchard (bass). The band has also had a variety of guests contribute to albums such as the Crouch End Festival Chorus, Amorphous Androgynous, Johnny Marr, and Paul Weller.
