Djibril Diawara (born 3 January 1975 ) is a retired French-Senegalese footballer. Career He played for Le Havre, Monaco, Torino and Bolton Wanderers during his professional career. Diawara played in Jean Tigana's talented Monaco side which famously put Manchester United out of the Champions League in 1998 on away goals after a 1–1 draw at Old Trafford. Souleymane Diawara (born 24 December 1978) is a Senegalese former professional footballer who played as a defender. He spent most of his career in France, playing for Le Havre, Sochaux, Bordeaux, Marseille and OGC Nice, apart from a brief stint at Charlton Athletic. At the international level, he represented Senegal. Career Diawara began his career at Havre AC, spending two seasons in Ligue 1 before the club was relegated. He stayed at Le Havre until 2003, before signing for FC Sochaux. On 19 November 2002, he made his debut with the Senegalese national team against South Africa in a friendly match. Manthia Diawara (born December 19, 1953) is a Malian writer, filmmaker, cultural theorist, scholar, and art historian. He holds the title of University Professor at New York University (NYU), where he is Director of the Institute of Afro-American Affairs. Biography Diawara was born in Bamako, Mali, and received his early education in France. He later received a PhD from Indiana University in 1985. Prior to teaching at NYU, Diawara taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California at Santa Barbara. Much of his research has been in the field of black cultural studies, though his work has differed from the traditional approach to such study formulated in Britain in the early 1980s. Djeli Moussa Diawara, born 1962 in Kankan, Guinea, is a Kora player ( Korafola), composer and singer. Biography Djeli Moussa Diawara (also known as ''Jali Musa Jawara'') was born to a Griot family. His father was a balafon player, and his mother a singer. His half-brother, sharing the same mother, was Mory Kanté. He is a "jali," or "djeli", a Mandinka word for griot.
